Job summary

2 post available at 15 hours per week. You will be required to work Thursday and Friday with the option of either a Saturday or Sunday (3 days in total) 4pm to 8pm.

This role supports the IMS system, procurement, storage and transport ofequipment and resources within the operating theatreenvironment.

You will be expected to work on an individual basis but also as an integral member of the team within theatres and ITAPS Resources, Equipment,Decontamination and Sterilization team, and work accordingly to the department's policies and procedures, upholding Trust policies.

Please note: Applicants must be fully available to work the stipulated shift pattern.

Main duties of the job

  • Collection and delivery of used and clean items to and from departments on any site.

  • Storing and distribution of items in the storerooms to include ensuring the areais clean and stock is rotated, items topped up on IMS system.

  • All instrument trays being handled are checked for sterility of packagingChecking date/batch numbers of sterile items to ensure they meet therequired department standards and raising any issues found.

  • Comply with the department Quality Policies and Procedures.

  • Ensure priority is given to all Urgent Cases, and communicate to thetheatre concerned the time scales involved.

  • Any problems must be brought to the attention of the Team Leaders orDepartmental Managers, responsible for the site immediately.

  • Ensure that the Trolleys are cleaned internally and externally on a daily basis.

  • Other work areas are kept neat & tidy, and that work practises are upheld.

  • REDS Operatives are to prepare and assist the drivers to transport trolleysfor collection/delivery from/to the vehicles parked outside the main building ofhe specific site.

  • All sterilised items are placed back in their correct spaces allocated in the appropriate Theatre/Department store areas

Job responsibilities

  • Be visible within the theatre complex at all times and take responsibility for all REDs stores rooms within ITAPS

  • On a daily basis stock store rooms, top up times and check the IMS system

  • Liaise with UHL Procurement and companies re: Prices, carriage and delivery

  • Check all orders/invoices on receipt of goods, checking prices/quantities.

  • Makingfrequent checks on items not received. Notifying Team Leaders promptly, whena problem with an order is identified.

  • Distribute all orders to correct area and making Team Leaders aware of delivery.

  • Comply with the departments Quality Policies and Procedures and internal SOPs.

  • Processing equipment for services including Endoscopy, Urology, Theatres andthe Alliance.

  • Operating a sterilization machine.

  • Collecting and delivering used and clean equipment from and to Theatres,Wards, and Departments cross site.

  • Monitoring stock levels.

  • Checking and rotating consumables. Liaising with services to ensure equipment is available in a timely manner.

  • Ensure that the Decontamination transport trolleys are cleaned internally and externally on a daily basis. Other work areas are kept neat & tidy, and that work practices are upheld.

  • Liaise with the team leader on a daily basis.

Training & Qualifications

Essential

  • English Language Qualification

Desirable

  • NVQ 2 in Administration or equivalent experience

Experience

  • 12 months clerical experience/12 months experience in an operational service environment
