Job summary

Northgate Village Surgery has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP to join our dynamic, supportive, and friendly team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing a varied and interesting clinical caseload, delivering high-quality care to our patient population. We are looking for the candidate to take up 6 sessions.

Main duties of the job

Our goal is to provide excellent clinical care to our patients. To manage a clinical caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.

You will be supported by a knowledgeable administrative, nursing and management team.

We are a well-established training practice serving approximately 6,800 patients in Chester. We deliver high-quality care from modern, purpose-built premises in the city centre.

We are a supportive, high-performing, and well-organised practice using EMIS Web. As part of the forward-thinking Chester Central Primary Care Network, we work collaboratively to enhance patient care and staff experience.

We are proud to be a teaching practice, supporting medical students, Foundation Year doctors, and GP trainees (ST1ST3), with experienced clinical and educational supervisors in place.

We warmly welcome applicants with an interest in minor surgery and also support other specialist interest training.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP in delivering health services.

The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

b.

The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract

c.

To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner, utilising Practice and any other local guidelines

d.

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

e.

Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care

f.

Effective management of long-term conditions

g.

To support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care

h.

Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

i.

Review medications following the appropriate policies, NICE/local clinical guidelines and local care pathways

j.

Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance

k.

Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

l.

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

m.

Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans

n.

Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

o.

Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

p.

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

q.

Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training

r.

Be aware of your duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhere to practice policies and procedures on Safeguarding Adults and Safeguarding Children

Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

Prepare and complete the revalidation process to remain fit to practice

Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies

Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement

To be an integral part of the general practice team as well as supporting the wider network and multi-disciplinary team

There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks, this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
