Job summary

**A rare opportunity is currently on offer in the Gloucestershire School Nursing Service**

We are recruiting to a School Nursing Service support role 24 hours per week;

School and Community Health Practitioner - part time (4 x 6 hour days) based in Tewkesbury

This is a relatively new post working as part of the team whoprovide screening as per national and local guidance, National Child Measurement Programme and advice and support for children and families either one to one or in facilitated groups in the community.

In addition, the School and Community Health Practitioner will be the first line of support for the School and Community Health Facilitators and will be an expert in and deliver training in Togetherness Parenting (previously known as Solihull Parenting Programme).

Main duties of the job

To work within the School Nursing Team to deliver delegated components of the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme (DH 2009), monitoring quality and compliance and reporting risks by exception to the Senior School Nurse or Clinical Team Leader.

Deliver interventions for children, families and young people using clinical judgement to make adaptions and changes in care based on the responses and outcomes observed.

To deliver high quality, compassionate, evidence-based public health promotion advice, following an initial assessment by a registered practitioner using child-centred approaches which promote health and independence.

To demonstrate effective approaches to monitoring signs and symptoms of physical, mental, cognitive, behavioural and emotional distress, and liaise with the School Nurse in an appropriate and timely manner to review / reassess needs as required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 in Care and Education or similar
  • Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent or a willingness to complete this
  • Solihull Approach to parenting train the trainer or willingness to complete this course.
