Working as a bank Second Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. Main duties of the job
The role of the Second Chef at Barchester Healthcare in Reading is both casual and part-time, offering flexible working arrangements. As part of the culinary team, the Second Chef will prepare dishes using fresh, seasonal produce, maintaining high standards akin to those found in hotels and restaurants, without the added pressure of split shifts and prolonged work weeks. The position involves assisting the Head Chef in menu development and adapting meals to suit the preferences and nutritional needs of residents. Key responsibilities include managing the kitchen when the Head Chef is unavailable, conducting regular audits, controlling stock, and adhering to budget constraints. It's essential for candidates to possess City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ qualifications or their equivalents, experience in leading a team, and a solid comprehension of nutrition and HACCP protocols. Essential
