We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Senior Care Practitioner (Nights) to join our dedicated team and help ensure residents receive outstanding care throughout the night.
As a Senior Care Practitioner, you will combine hands-on care with leadership responsibilities, supporting colleagues and promoting high standards of person-centred care. You will play a key role in maintaining residents' wellbeing, ensuring their comfort and safety, and creating a calm and reassuring environment during night-time hours.

Main duties of the job
Your Role as a Senior Care Assistant (Nights) -
- Lead the night care team in delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
- Administer medication safely and in accordance with care plans and policies.
- Monitor residents health and wellbeing, responding promptly to any changes.
- Provide personal care and support with dignity and respect.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of care records and handovers.
- Support and mentor night staff, promoting best practices and teamwork.
- Carry out regular checks and ensure the home remains safe and secure overnight.
- Liaise with on-call management or healthcare professionals when necessary.
- Prepare the home for the following day, including light housekeeping and documentation.

Job responsibilities
The Senior Care Practitioner (Nights) is responsible for supporting the effective delivery of care and providing leadership during night shifts. The postholder will work closely with residents, relatives, colleagues and healthcare professionals to ensure individual needs are met and high standards of care are maintained.
The role combines direct resident support with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring the care team operates efficiently and residents remain safe, comfortable and supported throughout the night. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, compassion and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a senior care role, ideally in a residential or nursing home.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Excellent communication and decision-making abilities.
- A calm, compassionate, and professional approach to overnight care.
- Confidence in administering medication and using care systems.
Qualifications
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or willing to work towards it).
