Main duties of the job

About us

Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital The Exeter Nuffield hospital is based next to the NHS RD&E hospital in Wonford, Exeter. Exeter is a vibrant cathedral city in the heart of the beautiful county of Devon, situated on the river exe and only 10 miles from the coast. The hospital has 2 theatres, as well as a hybrid cardiac catheter laboratory/theatre and an Endoscopy suite. There are two ward areas: an inpatient area with 21 beds and a day-case ward with 12 beds. We also have a busy outpatient department, health assessment service, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and radiology department including an MRI scanner. We specialise in elective orthopaedic and spinal surgery, cardiology including invasive procedures, general surgery, plastics and cosmetic surgery, ENT and gynaecology. The Hospital has a MAKO robot that undertakes some of the joint replacement surgery which we have become well known for.

  • Be compliant with all professional, clinical and integrated governance standards and participate in clinical audit and other quality assurance processes
  • Be expected to work in both an inpatient ward and outpatient clinic setting, with participation on the weekend ward rota
  • To succeed as a Senior Physiotherapist you will
  • Have a BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent and you'll be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
  • Have a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience
  • Have post-graduate experience of working in both musculoskeletal outpatients and having worked on an inpatient ward
  • Have a high level of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic knowledge.
  • Understand and have experience of both the Public NHS and Private healthcare service
  • Demonstrate evidence of further professional training and continual professional development, reflecting your desire to develop as a practitioner.
  • Be a confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with patients, the general public and other healthcare professionals.
  • Be able to auscultate a chest.
  • Be a competent and confident IT user with strong organisation skills.
  • Have the ability to prioritise and deal with a varied workload in an effective and timely manner.
  • Be expected to work on the wards as part of our team weekend rota

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Have a BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent and you'll be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
