Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Workforce & OD Business Partner to join our People and Organisational Development Team.

This is a key strategic role, working as an integral member of a Divisional Senior Management Team to shape and deliver workforce and organisational development priorities. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, supporting the delivery of high-quality services by developing an engaged, and sustainable workforce.

You will work within a collaborative and supportive People & OD function, with access to professional development.

We are looking for a confident and credible HR professional who can operate strategically and operationally in a complex NHS environment. The ability to work in a hybrid environment both at home and on site will be important to this role.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Workforce & OD Business Partner, you will:

  • Lead and influence the delivery of workforce strategy at divisional level, aligning workforce plans to organisational priorities.
  • Partner with senior leaders to drive organisational performance, culture, and service improvement.
  • Provide expert advice on complex workforce and employee relations matters, including high-risk cases.
  • Support organisational change, including service transformation, workforce redesign, and efficiency initiatives.
  • Drive workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and succession planning strategies.
  • Analyse workforce data and trends to inform strategic decision-making and improve staff experience.
  • Strengthen management capability through coaching, training, and development interventions.
  • Develop and implement HR/OD policies in line with employment law, NHS frameworks, and best practice.
  • Lead workforce and OD projects that support delivery of organisational objectives.
  • Work in partnership with trade unions, fostering a positive employee relations environment.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Fully Qualified CIPD (Postgraduate)
  • Masters level or equivalent level of work experience

Experience

Essential

  • Senior HR role with experience of advising Senior Managers on best practice Workforce & OD approaches, particularly change management and complex employee relations cases
  • Experience of delivering a range of effective workforce interventions within a business organisation
  • Experience of coaching and training managers in workforce issues
