Job summary
Overall Responsibilities:
o To work on the Haematology Oncology Day Unit (HODU) &Mobile Cancer Care Units (MCCU) supporting patients, andtheir carers, who are receiving chemotherapy and supportivetreatments for haematology/oncology conditions
o The post is an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team whichcontributes to the effective and economic use of availableresources.
o Responsibilities include involvement in the day-to-daymanagement and co-ordination of HODU.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
o Maintain a high standard of nursing care for ill patients inaccordance with Airedale Hospital Trust's guidelines andprotocols.
o Contribute towards the development of clinical practice byparticipating in practice, and self- development programs onthe unit

Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of the NHS Constitution & "Understanding the new NHS
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of health and safety issues
- Knowledge of recent National Cancer Plans
Qualifications
Essential
- Studied to Diploma level or equivalent
- Registered with NMC
- Post registration oncology / haematology / chemotherapy course
- Recent evidence of study / personal development
- IV Drug delivery competencies
- Cannulation and phlebotomy competencies
- Access to CVADs competencies
- Administration of Blood and Blood Components competencies
Desirable
- BSc / MSc in Health care studies or equivalent
- Recognised teaching qualification (SLIP / ENB998 / D32 or D33)
- Leadership qualification (eg: Edward Jenner Programme / Rising Stars programme)
- UKONS SACT Passport AIMS / ILS / ALS
- Advanced communications skills Knowledge of palliative care issues

- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Person-centered approach to assessment and care delivery
Experience

- Significant post registration experience in an NHS setting
