Job summary

Specialist doctor in the Homerton Psychological Medicine team.

Working as key member of this liaison team, involved in all aspects of assessing and managing patients referred to the service from the emergency department and the acute wards.

Assessment and management of a wide range of presentations who are referred to a busy liaison team. This includes patients referred from the ED covering crisis presentations, acutely disturbed or confused patients and those experiencing psychoses with a range of precipitants.

Job responsibilities

The post-holder will gain experience in assessment and management of a wide range of presentations who are referred to a busy liaison team. This includes patients referred from the ED covering crisis presentations, acutely disturbed or confused patients and those experiencing psychoses with a range of precipitants.

Referrals from the wards include mood disturbances, functional presentations, eating disorders, post-ictal presentations and other organic psychoses and a monthly MDT discussion with the regional neuro rehabilitation unit. (RNRU)

The post-holder will help provide clinical leadership in the assessment and management of a wide range of mental health presentations as outlined above. They will take part in weekly MDTs, provide local teaching, engage in audit and QI cycles and be supported to pursue any interests they have in relation to the post and their psychiatry career.

  • GMC registered with license to practise
  • Medical Degree
  • Minimum 3 years experience as CT1-3 or higher or 3 years experience as Specialty doctor in psychiatry
