Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Registered Pharmacy Technician to join Sheffield Teaching Hospitals community services medicines management team .
This is an exciting role working with a wide range of community based services .If you are up to a challenge and work well with different groups of staff this is the role for you.
You will provide medicines governance support to services within the Trust who have community or satellite services; to ensure they have safe and effective systems and procedures in place
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys identifying risk, solving problems and putting in the appropriate governance systems to safeguard Patients, STH staff and the Trust. You will be supported in this role to help develop you as a specialist in your profession.
There are no dispensary evening weekend or bank holiday working commitments and there are opportunities for flexible working within this role.
Main duties of the job
To support the Head of Medicines Management Community Services by providing expert technical advice on a wide range of matters pertaining to medicines governance and risk.
Provide specialist pharmaceutical advice, direction and support to Community Services clinical and managerial staff throughout the organisation.
To provide advice on a wide range of highly complex medicine governance and risk situations.
Be responsible for disseminating and relaying specialist medicines management information, education and training to relevant healthcare professionals in a format that can easily be understood in the context of their professional practice.
Keep abreast of latest developments and best practice relating to medicines governance and risk.
To work with the Head of Medicines Management Community Services to develop, implement and audit safe and effective medicines governance and risk policies and guidelines in community services in order to improve practice and patient care.
Ensure systems are in place and maintained to report clinical incidents and serious untoward incidents relating to medicines management. In conjunction with the Pharmacy Healthcare Governance Manager, analyse and evaluate medicines management incidents, identifying and sharing learning to improve patient safety. This may include contributing to root cause analysis and incident investigations.

Qualifications
Essential
- BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences / NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services or equivalentQualifications
- Registration with General PharmaceuticalCouncil (GPhC )
Experience
Essential
- Relevant post- qualification experience in primary or secondary care
- Experience in development and delivery of education and training sessions
- Experience of writing and delivering audits
- Experience of writing policies and procedures
- Knowledge of the law and good practice related to storage and handling of pharmaceuticals
Desirable
- Project management
- Previous experience in Primary Care
- Using ePCAT prescribing data system

- Evidence of CPD
