Job summary
Are you looking for the next step in your career and keen to gain experience in a Musculoskeletal (MSK) Occupational Health setting? We are offering an exciting 12month maternity cover opportunity within our Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist with MSK experience who is keen to further develop their skills. The post includes structured development and training as part of our twoyear training programme, providing an excellent opportunity to build knowledge and experience in occupational health practice.
In this role, you will assess and treat NHS colleagues presenting with a varied MSK caseload in a clinic setting, alongside delivering rehabilitation within the Staff Health and Fitness Centre. You will also contribute to health promotion and preventative initiatives, working collaboratively with the wider Occupational Health and Wellbeing team.

Main duties of the job
The role involves providing timely, specialist physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis, management, and rehabilitation for employees with acute, long-term, and complex musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. You will support employees to remain in work or return safely and promptly.
The post holder will design and deliver health promotion and preventative initiatives to reduce the impact of MSK conditions across the workforce. As a senior member of the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team, you will contribute to a responsive, effective, and coordinated service, working closely within a multidisciplinary team. You will participate in clinical supervision and continuing professional development. The role also includes supporting key workstreams across South Tyneside and Sunderland.
The Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service is a forward-thinking service dedicated to supporting NHS staff health, wellbeing, and safety. The multidisciplinary team holds SEQOHS Accreditation and Better Health at Work Ambassador Status. Services include Occupational Health Physiotherapy, Nursing and Physician teams, Wellbeing, Moving and Handling, and Administration, within the HR Directorate.
Services operate across Trust sites, mainly at South Tyneside District Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital. Facilities include a staff gym, studio, and sauna. Shuttle buses support site travel. Working hours between 08:0017:00, Monday to Friday,

Job responsibilities
The post holder will:
- To provide a high standard of physiotherapy care to clients accessing the Occupational Health Physiotherapy Service and to undertake and manage their own caseload.
To assist in the provision of an expert specialised advice and support within scope of professional practice.
- To assist in the development of services and delivering exemplary clinical practice in all areas of the Trust, contributing to the reduction of musculoskeletal sickness across the Trust.
