Job summary
A part time AM shift Sterile Service driver / stores / autoclave technician is needed to join our dedicated and hard-working team in the decontamination and reprocessing of reusable Medical Devices within the Sterile Services Department at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
Previous experience of working in transport and logistics within the NHS or a sterile services environment would be advantageous but not essential, as full training will be given by our experienced training team. A full driving licence will be required, to allow use of our 3.5T service vehicles.

Job responsibilities
The successful applicant will perform the following duties :
- Perform daily inspections and vehicle checks as per departmental procedures to ensure road worthiness, reporting any defects to coordinators or management.
- Collect used medical devices from service users in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with departmental and Trust procedures.
- Act as a representative of the Trust and of the NHS at all times while carrying out your role, including while at service user / customer sites.
- Observe all driving regulations and laws.
- Road traffic accidents to be managed and reported in line with Trust procedures.
- Ensure that all documentation is completed correctly for each journey and filed according to departmental procedures and our Quality Management System.
- All deliveries and returns to be made strictly in accordance with the departmental schedule and procedures.
- Undertake any emergency deliveries as required.
- Used medical devices to be delivered to the Decontamination area only.
- Vehicle to be cleaned weekly according to departmental procedures.
- When not on driving duty you may be called upon to work other duties within the department once appropriate training has been provided and competence achieved.
- Receive deliveries of consumables, checking orders are correct and signed for.
- Complete documentation for the ordering of stores items on a weekly basis.
- Ensure high standards of departmental housekeeping are maintained in the stores, logistics and despatch areas at all times in line with Health & Safety and Fire regulations.
- Carry out regular stock checks in store room, ensuring correct stock rotation of consumable items.
- Complete annual stock check audits as required in line with Trust procedures.
- Operate steam sterilisers or low temperature hydrogen peroxide sterilisers once training has been provided and competence achieved..
- Process finished product through the unit using track & trace technology.
- Participate in appraisals and personal reviews and work to achieve agreed set objectives.
- Uniform will be provided which must be clean and worn whenever on duty.
- In the event of a Major Incident Alert all staff may be required to attend work due to the nature of the service provided within the Trust.

Essential
- oBasic numeracy skills oGCSE Maths & English to grade C or equivalent oBasic iteracy/comprehensive skills oA full UK driving licence
