Warrington & Halton Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust's Switchboard team provides a vital service to staff, patients and their relatives and provides a professional customer service 24/7 365 days a year. In house training will be provided to deal with all aspects of Switchboard duties.The post holder will form part of the Switchboard team, working various shifts to cover a busy hospital switchboard.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for operating the hospital switchboard answering all incoming and outgoing calls in a timely and efficient manner. Responsible to be involved in all associated procedures within the Switchboard environment, responding to all emergency calls and alarms whilst remaining calm, concise, and polite under pressure. The post holder will be required to perform in an environment where the work pattern is unpredictable and to demonstrate flexibility with their availability.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Effective Communication skills

Desirable

  • IT skills

Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent

Essential

  • Work in a customer care environment

Desirable

  • Willing to work extra hours to cover colleagues during annual leave and sickness

Ability to work without direct supervision

Essential

  • Able to work shifts and unsocial hours which includes lone working

Desirable

  • Knowledge of medical terms
