Job summary
An outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Training Programme Director for Restorative Dentistry within West Yorkshire. The successful applicant will be accountable to the Postgraduate Dental Dean via the Associate Postgraduate Dental Dean, they will play an important part in the direction of Restorative Dentistry training programmes in West Yorkshire with Workforce, Training and Education/Yorkshire & Humber (NHSE WTE YH). Specific roles and responsibilities will be discussed at interview.
The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of postgraduate dental training programmes at this level. They will also have strong leadership and communication skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team.Candidates must currently be working within Restorative Dentistry in the Yorkshire and the Humber region.
The post will be remunerated at 0.5PA per week.
All work undertaken is to be incorporated into the successful applicant's Job Plan.
Regional travel may be required for meetings and educational events.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the role include:
- Induction into the training programmes
- Involvement in the ARCP process
- Delivery of education
- Involvement in recruitment
- Managing and supporting trainees in difficulty
- Appointment, training, support and management of their Educational Supervisor team
- Attendance at DST Board and Strategy Planning meetings
- Engage in annual appraisal of their role with the ADD

Qualifications
Essential
- Holds a registration with the GDC
- Primary dental healthcare qualification
Desirable
- Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development (for example: Dental Educator Day, Train the trainer, etc)
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Considerable experience of working with learners or doctors in training in an educational context
- Knowledge of the NHS, its structures and processes, including an understanding of healthcare/multi-professional workforce matters
Desirable
- Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education
Skills

- Demonstrable leadership skills and an ability to influence and motivate others
- Strong interpersonal, communication, written and presentation skills
