Band 7 Ward Manager (RMN/RNLD)
Our Adult Inpatient Unit has recently undergone a £5, million-pound modernisation project, which was completed in September 2023. Our inpatient areas have been completely refurbished in line with national guidance for safety standards, complete with enhanced safety features using the latest healthcare technology innovation.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide professional, managerial and robust clinical leadership to a specified ward area.
The post holder is responsible for promoting and assuring robust risk assessment and management processes.
The post holder will provide financial management within the constraints of the identified budget, as directed by the Modern Matron.
The post holder will actively support and participate in the integration of a whole system approach with multi-disciplinary working at all times.
The post holder will perform delegated duties on behalf of the Modern Matron in their absence.
The post holder will ensure everyone, including staff, patients and visitors, has their right to be treated with respect and have their values and beliefs maintained and that they treated in such a way that maintains their privacy and dignity.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered RMN, RNLD or registered Allied Health Professional.
- Evidence of specialised continued professional development (level 6 or above) in clinical practice
Desirable
- Management and leadership qualification
Experience
Essential
- Extensive post-registration experience of working with adults with acute mental health needs
- Experience in using psychological and other therapeutic interventions with up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based practice
- Highly developed clinical reasoning & decision-making skills
- Sound knowledge of clinical risk assessment and formulation of risk management plans
- Sound knowledge of the national agenda for mental health
- Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Care Programme Approach
Desirable
- Experience of undertaking an audit process and reviewing records
- Experience of participation in quality improvement initiatives
Knowledge
Essential
- In-depth knowledge of: Acute mental health care, risk assessment and management
- Strong understanding of Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, NICE guidance and best practice standards
- Excellent clinical assessment and decision making skills
- Ability to provide effective clinical supervision and professional guidance
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to influence, motivate, and support staff
- Knowledge of CQC standards and inspection processes

- Skills in quality improvement methodologies
