The ultimate relish?

I have just discovered this handy little recipe and it’s delicious. We have it straight on toast for breakfast, in baked potatoes, etc, etc and you can use it on a good steak to spike it up. So easy… My late father used to love Gentleman’s Relish and I would always buy a small ceramic pot for him each year for his stocking. Having made this I’m not quite sure why it’s so expensive!!

GENTLEMAN’S RELISH

Ingredients
250g tinned anchovies
250 g unsalted butter, warmed a bit and diced
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
25 ml lemon juice
25 ml Worcestershire sauce
25 ml warm water

How to prepare
Chuck it all in a blender and blend until smooth. Put in small decorative jars and give as gifts or roll into a long sausage with the use of clingfilm, freeze and cut as needed.
