It’s that time of year when the temperature dips, evenings cool, and faint murmurs about “sweater weather” start to creep into conversation. And while many of us can feel a bit sad to see the long, lingering days of summer fade into longer, darker evenings, there’s a huge plus to the seasonal shift…autumn style.

If you’re someone who relishes putting the summer clothes away and sinking into chunky knits, comfy boots and deep, rich shades, you probably know exactly what we mean!

And sure, there are those style constants when it comes to this time of year – the knits, the boots, the warm colours. But each autumn has its own trends, and 2025 is no different. This year sees some classic and much-loved styles and silhouettes making a comeback on catwalks and high streets, with bold patterns and oversized accessories keeping things fun.

If you’re ready to get cosy, but would like a steer on this year’s style, look no further. Here are nine of the biggest trends for women in autumn 2025.

1. Boho

Spring and summer have both been marked by the Boho revival, and that trend is carrying over into autumn, too, albeit with the layers becoming a little chunkier and the colours a little earthier.

Bohemian silhouettes in summertime are all about flowing blouses and floating skirts. But, in autumn, think more along the lines of embroidered jackets, longline knitwear, shawls, and thicker fabrics. It’s about playing around with layers and textures to create a cosy and earthy mix-and-match look.

While boho wouldn’t be boho without a big skirt, instead of light cotton or linen, choose something a little more robust and structured for autumn, like this loose A-line suedette skirt from Monsoon. Pair with a fitted turtleneck and a boldly patterned cardigan (like this one from New Look) or a woolly fringed waistcoat (also from New Look) and some slouchy boots for a cosy, casual bohemian vibe.

2. Faux fur

If the Fashion Week catwalks are anything to go by, faux fur is back with a serious growl this autumn. Almost every fashion house featured at least some faux fur in their collections – a trend can be seen across high street brands, too.

Faux fur has reached uncanny levels of realism these days, in many cases looking indistinguishable from the real thing – but without the ethical concerns. And designers are taking full advantage of its quality and glamour, creating beautiful pieces to add a layer of luxury to your look this autumn.

From stoles and scarves (this one from Mytheresa is stunning) to dramatic full-length coats (like this one from Miss Selfridge), whether you want just a whisper or to go full “mob wife” with it, faux fur is a key style trend for this season.

We love the confidence (and warmth) of a full faux fur coat, and now is the time to find one that truly suits your personal style. This slightly 70s-style brown belted faux fur from & Other Stories is a sophisticated, versatile style that can be dressed up or worn casually. For a more classic cut, LK Bennet’s plush, dark leopard faux fur double-breasted coat is both elegant and practical, and will see you through winter, too.

3. Deep browns

Deep browns, mahoganies, wines, and burgundies are the colours of the season; brown is still, without a doubt, the new black this autumn. From exquisite eveningwear and those glamorous faux furs to chunky knits and sturdy boots, this autumn is all about a warm, rich colour palette.

To really lean into it, try colour-washing by wearing a monochromatic palette of different shades of brown, from intense bitter chocolates to lighter, deep camels. A few classic pieces will allow you to mix and match to your heart’s content throughout the season.

Next is, as always, perfectly on trend, with a whole “chocolate brown” section on their website. You’ll find plenty of options that are perfect for a more mature look – we love this chocolate brown jersey dress and this loose satin V-neck blouse.

Not sure about head-to-toe brown tones? H&M have a lovely pair of chocolate brown Chelsea boots that will add a dash of this season’s colour to any outfit.

4. Big bangles

Big, chunky, colourful resin bangles were everywhere in summer, and they remain the must-have autumn accessory for 2025. They’re fun, funky, and inexpensive, so you can easily have a few on hand to stack together or switch out depending on your outfit and look.

This big stretchy amber bangle from Accessorize is a gorgeous warm colour, like wearing autumn on your arm. ASOS also has a great selection of very autumnal resin bracelets; this set of three will work perfectly with an autumn colour palette, especially if you’re leaning into seasonal browns.

For a little extra glam, you could choose a set that includes some gold, too. There are plenty of different options on their website, so it’s worth browsing to find the colour combination that works for you.

5. Slouchy bags and boots

From boho to hobo…slouchy boots and bags are the perfect complement to this season’s whimsical bohemian layers and textures.

Boots are an autumn staple, with styles coming and going year on year – in 2025, it’s all about soft and slouchy silhouettes. You’ll find lots in rich browns and suedes (another of this autumn’s trends), in comfortable and wearable styles that have the versatility to go with casual or more dressed-up looks.

There’s a huge range of gorgeous, practical and on-trend slouch boots on the high street this season, whether you want flats or heels, casual boots, or something dressier. For day-to-day wear, we love these sturdy, cool slouch leather boots from Urban Outfitters, or to stay closer to the boho autumn trend, these western-style suede slouchy boots from Asos are just perfect. For practical everyday comfort, you also can’t beat Hotter’s beloved slouchy Whisper boots.

Slouchy bags are everywhere at the moment, too. If you like something quite clean-cut and classic, Oliver Bonas has a beautiful khaki green slouch tote that’s casual, but sophisticated and timeless. Hush has a boho-style, chocolate suede tote bag that’s chic and roomy, and has a thick strap, perfect for those of us who don’t travel light!

6. Suede and suedette

You’ve already seen them mentioned throughout this article, so it will be no surprise that suedes and suedettes are having their moment this autumn. Suede has such a soft-but-solid luxury to it, and its rich texture is just the ideal for autumn’s warm tones.

It’s really up to you how you want to wear suede this season. Obviously, bags and boots tend to be the easiest to find in a range of coloured suedes, and are always a good look and a durable choice.

For something different, a suedette skirt like the one we mentioned above, or even a real suede one – like this beautiful Mark & Spencer midi skirt – is a cool and comfortable way to wear this fabulous fall fabric.

7. Leopard print

If faux furs are back with a growl, then leopard prints are back with a roar this autumn – and they’re here in many forms, so that you can dip your toe without feeling like it’s “too much”. Done right, leopard print is neutral. It’s all about blending it in with your own personal style, whether that means just an accent here or there, or something more bold and daring if it feels right for you.

For just a hint of print, try a leopard print belt to add just a touch of wild to black jeans or trousers, like this lovely one from Mango. Marks & Spencer has some lovely leopard prints this autumn, too, such as this slightly boho-style ruched midi waisted dress, or a cosy, fluffy oversized jumper.

If you feel like trying something a bit different, check out slow fashion brand Raf & Grace for sustainable and beautiful pieces that are interesting, quirky, and comfortable. We love this quilted leopard print gilet, which is just perfect for a cool layered look.

8. Plaid

Another pattern making a strong appearance this autumn is good old, reliable plaid, with the iconic flannel checked shirt in particular being touted as the season’s “layering hero”.

This striking blue checked shirt from Cos strikes a lovely balance between casual and elegant, and is an ideal piece for layering and dressing up or down. For a fully plaid look, Massimo Dutti’s effortlessly chic head-to-toe grey checked co-ord is a relaxed and super stylish choice.

Cos also have a fabulous checked draped midi skirt in the deep, rich chocolate brown tone that’s so favoured this autumn, but that would surely become a perennial feature in any autumn wardrobe.

If you like plaid, but in small doses, just go for a small accent – why not try a cute hat like this beret from Mango, which comes in a choice of light camels and browns, or deeper browns and black.

Final thoughts…

Autumn 2025’s style trends are exciting: cosy, soft textures, rich tones, and bold patterns allow each of us to find a balance that suits our individual style. If your style is low-key and casual, you can add a few small bold and playful additions to refresh your look – a chunky bangle here, a leopard print belt there.

If your style is a little bolder, the sky’s the limit with this season’s trends. Pattern layering – even leopard layering – can add a real wow factor to your autumn wardrobe. Or why not experiment with the drama and sophistication of a monochromatic colour-washed look in this season’s deep browns?

As always, your personal preference and style will guide you in finding the right pieces for you. But we hope this article has given you some inspiration for your autumn 2025 style.
