A family holiday is something to cherish — experiencing new adventures, creating lasting memories, and, of course, spending quality time with your loved ones.
Whether you’re four or thirty-four, the joy of a family getaway is timeless. And when grandchildren are part of the picture, it adds a whole new layer of excitement.
From cosy Cotswold cottages made of honey-coloured stone to grand 19th-century baronial mansions, HPB properties are designed with families in mind. But don’t just take our word for it — hear from HPB Bondholders themselves…
Never too young for a family holiday
At HPB, we’re dedicated to ensuring our sites offer the perfect holiday experience for guests of all ages. This was certainly true for Alexandra Bailey and her family, who enjoyed a holiday at our Madeira site, Encosta Cabo Girao.
“Madeira was perhaps not a typical choice for baby’s first trip abroad,” she tells us. “But we knew that a change of scene at an easy travel destination was exactly what we needed to escape from all the toys in our cluttered lounge in early July”
The family made the most of their time away, taking several day trips and making use of the extra pairs of hands “Our family split up, and took it in turns to look after our nine-month-old at the villa while others in the group had an opportunity to go whale-watching on a zodiac boat in the ocean,” Alexandra explains. “For my husband and me, this was our first baby-free date since she had been born, and what a unique way to spend it.”
The rest of the week was filled with fun on-site. “My six-year-old niece very much enjoyed improving her tennis skills at the Kids’ Club, and the rest of us played our own (very hot) doubles match on one of the tennis courts, which had a spectacular view down over the valley. We also had a couple of rounds of competitive crazy golf before relaxing over our pre-dinner sundowners. The rest time spent at our villa could not have been better – we were able to set up the travel cot under the shade, so baby could play with her toys inside it rather than crawl and roll over on the hard ground, and we enjoyed plenty of family board games, reading, and time for the children to do their scrapbooks! A flight of steps down from our veranda was our own villa pool, which was probably a highlight of the trip for all of us.”
“We spoke to other Bondholders, many of whom said they have been returning to this site for years. Some were surprised at our choice to take a nine-month-old to Madeira when a more obvious choice would be a UK site – but we are so glad we did!”
We hope to welcome Alexandra and her family back to one of our other overseas sites soon!
Two holidays, sixteen years apart
In August 2008, when the family lived in Barcelona, a visit to Biniorella in Mallorca was the perfect summer break for Bondholder George McInnes and family. “We took our own car on the overnight ferry, and after a short drive from the port in Palma, we arrived at HPB’s Mallorca home for the week,” recalls George. “Zoe, our daughter, was only four and loved the pool, meeting loads of kids of her age from the UK who loved Peppa Pig as much as she did. Having our own car and some knowledge of Spanish, we were able to enjoy the island to its full extent.”
“Fast forward 16 years: now living in the UK, our next Biniorella visit took place in September 2024 and was planned for the two of us, Zoe now being 20 and thus off our hands (or so we thought). Naturally it turned out that Zoe, on her summer break from university, had no intention of staying to look after the dog – so she was coming after all!”
And they were glad she did! The family had a wonderful time, including a memorable paddleboarding excursion. “I knelt on the board until ready to get wet,” admits George. “I stood up and looked at the people laughing on the horizon and managed to stay on. My legs were shaking and I was losing energy fast; so I fell in, mainly for a rest. The third time I got up, Cris said I had to use my mind to stop my legs shaking… so I fell off again. However, go number four and I actually stood up until we reached a beach!”
Their fun didn’t stop there — they also enjoyed a classical guitar evening, a pub quiz, and a barbecue. It was the perfect mix of fun for both the young and not-so-young, proving that HPB holidays are ideal for families at every stage of life.
And That’s Just the Beginning…
With a portfolio of over 1,500 properties across 32 stunning locations in the UK and Europe, HPB offers a fresh, exciting way to holiday for you and your family. And with the added benefit of passing on your membership, one day your children can also enjoy these incredible holidays for years to come.
Exclusive holidays for life: An initial payment from £5,000 and a quarterly fee of under £38 (that is around £150 a year), which can increase in line with but not exceed the Retail Price Index Excluding Mortgage Interest (RPIX), gives you access to all HPB’s holiday homes. For each HPB holiday, you will pay a no-profit user charge covering only property running and maintenance costs and use of on-site facilities. The average charge is the same throughout the year, and for a studio is around £372 a week and £569 for a two bedroom property. Larger properties are also available. After an initial charge of 25% your money is invested in a fund of holiday properties and securities. The fund itself meets annual charges of 2.5% of its net assets at cost, calculated monthly. Your investment return is purely in the form of holidays and, as with most investments, your capital is at risk. You can surrender your investment to the company after two years or more (subject to deferral in exceptional circumstances) but you will get back less than you invested because of the charges referred to above, as well as other overheads and changes in the value of the fund’s properties and securities.
