Our children's services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children's services and help make a real difference

Barnardo's Ubuntu Project will support the development of regional support networks for children, young people and families seeking sanctuary in Northern Ireland. The Youth Voice Network will amplify the voices of sanctuary seeking young people aged 12+ to policy makers, through a rights-based approach and within the 5 C's of: • CONNECTION • COMPASSION • CONFIDENCE BUILDING • CHALLENGING • CHANGE MAKING

The Ubuntu Youth Voice Network is a collaborative process that will bring young people together to share their perspectives on the challenges they face and empower them to propose and seek solutions.

Youth Group Volunteers will support the smooth running of group activities. Meetings will take place at least once a month in Belfast with additional sessions according to the needs of the group including mini projects and trips.

Skills needed:

  • open to listening and learning from young people.
  • be familiar with online meeting platforms (e.g. MS Teams) and work online safely.
  • be inclusive and adapt to the needs of young people.
  • English is used during group meetings however the ability to speak another language would be beneficial (Arabic, Ukrainian, Farsi, Somali, Tigrinya).
