Volunteer: Heritage Cleaning Crew
- Churches Conservation Trust
- Part Time
- Severn Stoke
Job Description
We are fortunate to have three historic churches in the Pershore area, Worcestershire, that contain exquisite monuments created by some of the finest craftsmen of their time. These churches are at Croome D'Abitot, Strensham and Spetchley. Over the years, these remarkable carvings in stone and wood naturally gather dust and lose some of their original beauty.
We are looking for adult volunteers with an interest in heritage to help care for these unique works of art. As part of a small, friendly team, you'll play an important role in preserving the character of these three churches by carrying out gentle, specialist cleaning using fine tools and careful techniques. You will move around the three churches on a rotation so all the monuments are regularly cleaned.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys mindful, detailed work and takes satisfaction in bringing historic features back to life. Your contribution will help ensure these treasured buildings continue to look cared for and appreciated by visitors for years to come.
There will also be opportunities to help volunteers in other churches at particular times.
You must be able have transport to get you to each church and must be fit enough to clean for a couple of hours at a time. We are looking for a half day commitment once a fortnight. This is a new team and we will sort out days when we know people's availability. This is an ideal opportunity to carry out with a friend.
