Job Description
We're looking for a volunteer accountant to help manage the finances of Serenity Soul, a growing community wellbeing hub. Your skills will help us stay sustainable, grow our impact, and support more people. Even a few hours can make a real difference.
What will you be doing?
We're looking for someone to take the lead on the financial side of Serenity Soul and help us keep things running properly as we grow.
The main priorities are keeping our finances organised, making sure money coming in and out is tracked properly, and helping us understand where we're at month to month. That includes basic bookkeeping, keeping records up to date, and putting together simple reports so we can make good decisions.
We'd also like support with budgeting and planning ahead — making sure what we're doing is sustainable and that we're setting ourselves up to grow. In order to grow we will be required to apply for grants. This role would assist in developing, monitoring and tracking expenditure. If you've got experience with funding or grants, that would be a big bonus, especially helping us show how money is being used and reported.
There may also be some involvement in setting up or improving systems, so everything runs smoothly and doesn't become overwhelming as we get busier.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for someone who's comfortable with the financial side of things and wants to use their skills to support something meaningful.
Ideally, you'll have experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management, and be confident keeping records organised and up to date. Experience with budgeting or financial planning would be a big plus, and if you've worked with charities, CICs, or funding applications before, even better — but it's not essential.
More important than anything, we're looking for someone reliable, honest, and easy to work with. Someone who can keep things simple, explain things clearly, and help us make sense of where we're at financially.
You don't need to commit loads of time — just someone who cares about what we're building and wants to play a part in helping it grow the right way.
What difference will you make?
Right now, like a lot of community projects, we're driven by passion and purpose — but having someone take control of the financial side gives us the structure and stability we need to build properly. It means we can make confident decisions, plan ahead, and make sure we're using our resources in the best possible way.
By having clear oversight of our finances, we'll be in a much stronger position to apply for funding, bring in support, and expand what we offer to the community. Ultimately, that means more groups, more services, and more people being supported.
Your input won't just sit in the background — it will directly help keep the doors open, shape the future of the hub, and allow us to reach people who might otherwise struggle in silence.
You'll be playing a key part in turning something that's already making a difference into something that's long-lasting, sustainable, and able to support even more people.
