Charity Registration Advisor

Reach Volunteering

Job Description

The Mary Kiden Foundation seeks a volunteer with charity governance or registration experience to help us register as a CIO with the Charity Commission. We run a Saturday school in Manchester supporting children from African and wider communities with academic support

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a volunteer with experience in charity governance or Charity Commission processes to support us in registering the Mary Kiden Foundation as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

The volunteer would help by reviewing our existing documents, which include our constitution, governance policies and trustee structure, and advising us on whether any changes are needed before submission.

They would also guide us through completing and submitting the Charity Commission application and advise on how to respond to any questions or feedback from the Charity Commission during the process.

The aim is to ensure our application is accurate, compliant and has the best chance of being approved.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a volunteer with experience in charity governance, charity registration or knowledge of Charity Commission processes. Experience registering a CIO would be particularly helpful. The volunteer should be organised, supportive and able to review documents and provide guidance on the application process. An interest in supporting community organisations and improving opportunities for young people would also be valuable.

What difference will you make?

This role will help the Mary Kiden Foundation successfully register as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), which is an important step in our development as a community organisation.

Becoming a registered charity will enable us to apply for funding, expand our programmes and provide more consistent educational support for children and young people from African and wider communities, particularly families on low incomes.

The volunteer's support will help ensure our Charity Commission application is accurate and compliant, giving us the best chance of approval. This will allow us to strengthen our governance and increase the long-term sustainability and impact of our Saturday supplementary school in Clayton, Manchester.

Good luck with your application
