Job Description
Help Greater Height Community Events CIC secure funding that will expand community programmes, reduce social isolation, and support local residents. Use your research and writing skills to make a lasting impact across South London.
What will you be doing?
Greater Height Community Events CIC is seeking funding to engage a Grant and Bid Writer who will help the organisation identify suitable funding opportunities, develop high-quality grant applications, and secure sustainable income to support our community programmes. As a growing CIC, we have identified a need for specialist support to strengthen our fundraising capacity and increase our ability to access funding from trusts, foundations, local authorities, and other grant-making bodies. The Grant and Bid Writer will research funding opportunities, prepare compelling applications, gather supporting evidence, and help develop a strategic funding pipeline. Securing this support will enable Greater Height Community Events CIC to expand its reach, deliver more community activities, improve organisational sustainability, and create a greater positive impact for the individuals, families, and communities we serve across London.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic volunteer Grant and Bid Writer who is passionate about supporting community organisations and creating positive social impact. This role would suit experienced professionals who wish to contribute their skills to a worthwhile cause. They would have to have 3 years plus experience.
The ideal volunteer will have strong written communication skills and be able to produce clear, persuasive, and well-structured funding applications. They should be comfortable researching information, interpreting funding criteria, and tailoring applications to meet the requirements of different funders. Good attention to detail is important, as funding applications often require accuracy and supporting evidence.
We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable, and able to manage deadlines effectively. The volunteer should be able to work independently while maintaining regular communication with our team. A proactive approach to identifying funding opportunities are highly valued.
Previous experience in grant writing, fundraising, bid writing, charity work, research, business development, or project management is a must.
The volunteer should share our values of inclusion, community engagement, and creating opportunities that improve wellbeing and strengthen local communities.
Experience using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar online tools would be helpful. Familiarity with funding databases, trusts and foundations, or the voluntary and community sector is necessary.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced person who wants to make a meaningful difference and contribute to the growth and sustainability of Greater Height Community Events CIC.
What difference will you make?
A volunteer Grant and Bid Writer will play a vital role in helping Greater Height Community Events CIC become more sustainable and increase its impact within the community. Their support will enable us to identify and secure funding opportunities that would otherwise be difficult to access due to limited resources and capacity. Successful funding applications will allow us to deliver more community events, expand our programmes, reach more beneficiaries, and provide greater support to local residents experiencing social isolation, financial hardship, or limited access to community activities. The volunteer's contribution will directly help us create stronger, more connected communities by ensuring we have the resources needed to continue and grow our work. By helping us secure funding, they will make a lasting difference to the individuals, families, and communities we serve across South London, enabling more people to benefit from inclusive, accessible, and meaningful community engagement opportunities.
