Job Description
We are seeking a new trustee with accounting/financial planning experience and the ability ultimately to take on the Treasurer role.
What will you be doing?
As a trustee you will have a key role in the continuing evolution of our homeless charity.
We have experinced rapid growth from a relatively simple seasonal night shelter to a much broader homelessness charity that includes year-round accommodation and an active day centre 4 days a week.
The trustees work with a small (6) staff and a large (150+) volunteer force.
We are now looking for someone who will ultimately be able to take on the role of Treasurer and who is familiar with the idea of keeping accounts and making forecasts in a world with both restricted and unrestricted funds.
As trustees we work very closely with the staff and everyone's input is valued.
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have experience of accounting and planning in a charity environment and of working with funds segregated into restricted and unrestricted pools.
We retain a bookkeeper who does much of the day-to-day work, but still need our treasurer to monitor cash-flow and and make forecasts and keep the other trustees up to speed.
There are six board meetings a year and there is normally one whole strategy-focused "away day"

We have vairous sources of funding including local council and National Lottery and are looking to build our regular giving programme. It all brings challenges from an accounting point of view and we need someone who's up for it!
