Volunteer Finance Support Officer

Reach Volunteering

Job Description

Women's Consortium is looking for a skilled finance volunteer to provide extra support with finance administration, budget tracking and reporting as we continue to grow our community services across Birmingham and Solihull.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a finance volunteer to support our internal finance processes and help keep our records clear, accurate and organised.

This is an extra support role, not a full staff finance post. The volunteer will work alongside the Director and wider team, with tasks agreed based on their experience and availability.

You may support with finance administration, invoice tracking, basic bookkeeping, budget monitoring, reconciliations, financial summaries and organising finance documents. You may also help us improve simple finance processes and reporting so the organisation can plan more confidently.

The original Finance Officer role includes areas such as bookkeeping, invoice processing, budget tracking, management accounts and funder reporting, but this volunteer role will focus on practical support where needed

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in finance, bookkeeping, accounting, budget tracking or financial administration
  • Confidence working with financial information accurately and carefully
  • Good attention to detail and a reliable, organised approach
  • Experience using Excel for budget tracking, formulas or simple reports
  • Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage would be helpful
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
  • Confidence explaining financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
  • Practical experience in a small organisation, charity or community setting would be useful
  • Knowledge of charity finance, restricted funding or funder reporting would be helpful, but is not essential

This role may suit a finance professional, accountant, bookkeeper, retired finance officer, accounting student, or someone with practical finance experience who wants to support a community organisation.

What difference will you make?

This role will help Women's Consortium strengthen the way we manage our finances as we continue to grow our services and support more people across Birmingham and Solihull.

As a small organisation, having clear and accurate financial records is very important. A volunteer Finance Support Officer will help us keep track of income, spending, invoices, budgets and reporting, so we can make better decisions and stay accountable to our funders, partners and communities.

Good finance support may not always be visible to the public, but it makes a real difference behind the scenes. It helps us plan properly, avoid financial risks and use our resources in the best way possible.

By volunteering in this role, you will help us build stronger systems and continue providing accessible support to people who need it.

Good luck with your application
