Website Designer for Small Charity

Reach Volunteering

Job Description

Help us redesign the website for a small education charity supporting vulnerable children in rural Kenya. We have completed the strategy, wireframe and draft copy, and are looking for a skilled web designer to help bring the new site to life and strengthen our fundraising impact.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a volunteer web designer to help us redesign and modernise the Operation Imprezza website.

We have already completed substantial preparation work, including:

  • Review of comparable charity websites
  • Clear website structure and wireframe
  • Draft copy for the main pages
  • Defined goals around fundraising, storytelling and impact communication

We are now looking for someone who can help bring this vision to life through strong, modern and user-friendly website design.

Key tasks may include:

  • Designing and building a refreshed website
  • Advising on layout, user experience and navigation
  • Helping present our impact clearly and professionally
  • Supporting integration of images, reports and donation pathways
  • Helping ensure the site works well on mobile and desktop

We are a small UK charity supporting vulnerable children through fully funded education and care in rural Kenya. The website will play an important role in helping us strengthen supporter engagement and future fundraising.

We are open to different platforms and approaches, although a solution that is manageable for a small charity team would be ideal.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with strong web design experience who can help us create a modern, professional and user-friendly charity website.

Ideally, the volunteer will have:

  • Experience designing and/or building websites professionally
  • Strong understanding of layout, user experience and clear navigation
  • Ability to create a clean, engaging and trustworthy design
  • Experience designing and building professional websites using Wix, WordPress, Squarespace or similar platforms
  • Understanding of responsive/mobile-friendly design
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with a small charity team

Experience working with charities, fundraising organisations or purpose-led brands would be particularly valuable, although not essential.

We have already developed a detailed wireframe, reviewed comparable charity websites and drafted much of the core copy, so we are looking for someone who can bring professional design expertise and help turn the strategy into a polished final website.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is reliable, proactive and excited by the opportunity to help strengthen the long-term impact and sustainability of a small education charity.

What difference will you make?

A stronger website will help us communicate our impact more clearly, strengthen trust with supporters and funders, and improve our long-term sustainability as a charity.

As a small organisation, our current website no longer reflects the quality, credibility and long-term impact of the work being carried out in Kenya. A volunteer helping us redesign the site would directly support our ability to:

  • Reach new supporters and donors
  • Improve fundraising opportunities
  • Better share stories and impact
  • Present the charity more professionally to grant-makers and partners
  • Increase awareness of the challenges faced by vulnerable children in rural Kenya

Ultimately, the volunteer's contribution would help us build greater support for a programme that provides fully funded education and care for around 300 children each year.

Good luck with your application
