Publicity Officer (Voluntary role) Salisbury area

Read Easy provides free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaching for adults who struggle with reading. We are a group affiliated to Read Easy UK.

We are looking for a new volunteer Publicity Officer to help our local community understand what our Read Easy group does; how adults local to Salisbury can get reading support, and how volunteers with free time can help.

Do you have previous experience of publicity/marketing? Good Communication and people skills? A strong commitment to improve the lives of adults who struggle with reading? Knowledge and ability to use social media skills effectively? Reasonable confidence in using IT? Energy and enthusiasm with an average of 3 or 4 hrs a week to commit to this voluntary role?

We are looking for someone able to raise awareness by giving talks, advertising our group with posters and leaflets, using the press and parish magazines etc to spread the word about Read Easy, as well as social media to reach a wider audience.

We support by providing the Management Team Handbook, policies, training/induction and guidance needed for this role; as well as access to our Regional Adviser and regional and national forums for networking.

The Publicity Officer role includes:

• Liaising with the friendly Management Team to decide on the group's publicity needs.
• Creating clear content for our website page.
• Be instrumental in raising awareness of us.
• Maintain the social media platforms.
• Become familiar with our resources.
• Organise printing of all our publicity materials.
• Identify opportunities for local media publicity.
• Ensure written permission is held to use such material for intended purposes.
• Provide stories and photos for the Read Easy UK website and newsletter about our group.
• Follow 'Read Easy Brand Guidelines' to preserve a clearly recognisable RE identity.
• Attend Management Team meetings 6 weekly in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
