Visitor Engagement Volunteer (On Reserves) (Guided Walk Leader, RSPB Loch Leven)

RSPB

Job Description

**Would you like to help us provide fun and informative guided walks at RSPB Loch Leven?**

We are looking for volunteers to join the team here at RSPB Loch Leven to lead, or assist with guided walks on our reserve. With your enthusiasm and knowledge, we can help people of all ages to enjoy and connect to the nature around them.

You'll take groups of visitors on a walk around the reserve, either on your own, or supported by another volunteer. Using your knowledge and communication skills, you'll help those who are attending the walks to spot and learn more about the wildlife they see.

This is a flexible role, and the days of the guided walks will be determined with the guided walk volunteers and the Visitor Experience Manager. The walks could be on a weekend or weekday. We would hope that each volunteer would be able to lead up to 5 guided walks in a year.

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

1. Excellent knowledge about the wildlife that calls RSPB Loch Leven home, in particular strong knowledge of bird identification or strong knowledge of other groups such as bumblebees, butterflies, bats, red squirrels

2. The ability to communicate clearly with diverse audiences in non-specialist language tailored to the group

3. Good people skills, able to communicate with all types of people and all ages

4. Enthusiasm, positivity and a cheerful disposition

5. Ideally (but not necessary!), previous experience in a public engagement/visitor experience role

If you're interested in this role, please complete an application and provide details on how you meet the skills and experience above, and what your specialism is (birds, bumblebees, butterflies, bats or anything else!).

If you have any questions, please get in touch with Sarah Allen (Visitor Experience Manager) on [email protected]

Good luck with your application
