Most charities need office support volunteers to ensure things continue to run smoothly. Often these roles are the glue that holds together the charity and are of critical importance. Many charities cannot afford to employ the staff they need in this field, so they rely on volunteers who generously give their time.
As an office and admin volunteer, you could be:
- Filing
- Answering calls and emails
- Data entry
- Invoicing
- IT support
- Managing databases
For general administrative support, you do not need a professional background and full training will be provided. Some roles e.g. IT support, will require you to have existing IT knowledge and would typically be better suited to someone with a professional IT background. Commitment levels are variable but due to the nature of the work, it is expected that office and admin volunteers will commit to regular weekly sessions over an extended period of time.
Although office and admin roles often take place behind the scenes, their value should not be underestimated. The work you do each day is absolutely vital in contributing to changing lives for the better.
