Weight loss injections have been transforming people’s relationships with food, leading to changing trends when it comes to eating out. In fact, studies show that many users spend significantly less on food and cut back on eating out after starting the medication.

But, experts are keen to emphasise that being on weight loss medication doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy eating out. And Oxford Online Pharmacy have studied 50 major UK restaurants to reveal those best suited for people taking appetite-suppressing medications like Wegovy and Mounjaro.

Analysing factors such as availability of small plates, whole foods, and healthier cooking methods like grilling, steaming, roasting, or poaching, researchers highlight some of the top places to visit – plus tips on what to look for when scanning menus.

Final thoughts…

Dining out isn’t just about eating – it’s about socialising, celebrating, and enjoying yourself. And, following these findings, researchers are keen to show that being on weight-loss medication doesn’t mean eating out is off the table.

Plus, as well as favouring restaurants that offer smaller portions and whole-food options, researchers at Oxford Online Pharmacy also recommend…

  • Researching the menu before you go
  • Only ordering what you think you can eat
  • Looking for smaller portion options
  • Sharing any concerns with people you’re dining with
  • Expressing to the waiting staff that you’re looking for a light dinner, so they can help to guide/adjust your order

In the study, restaurants like The Ivy, Honest Burger, and Hard Rock Cafe scored lower, offering fewer menu items suited to reduced appetite and whole, healthy food dishes.
