Weight loss injections have been transforming people’s relationships with food, leading to changing trends when it comes to eating out. In fact, studies show that many users spend significantly less on food and cut back on eating out after starting the medication.
But, experts are keen to emphasise that being on weight loss medication doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy eating out. And Oxford Online Pharmacy have studied 50 major UK restaurants to reveal those best suited for people taking appetite-suppressing medications like Wegovy and Mounjaro.
Analysing factors such as availability of small plates, whole foods, and healthier cooking methods like grilling, steaming, roasting, or poaching, researchers highlight some of the top places to visit – plus tips on what to look for when scanning menus.
5 best UK restaurants for weight-loss medication users
Taking into account healthy eating goals and the impact of weight-loss meds on appetite, researchers at Oxford Online Pharmacy have highlighted 10 top UK restaurants for those on weight-loss medication. We’ll cover the top five below.
1. Zizzi
According to the study, Zizzi is the best overall restaurant for people on weight-loss medication, with an impressive 133 options suitable for those undergoing treatment.
Researchers noted 62 vegetarian or plant-based options, 21 dishes that mention ‘fresh’ or ‘seasonal’ produce, and 18 dishes that are ‘grilled’ or ‘roasted’. Zizzi also offers 24 dishes under ‘nibbles’ and ‘starters’, including burrata and pork and garlic meatballs, as well as four salads and four sharing boards.
2. Nando’s
In second place, Nando’s was found to have 123 suitable options for people on weight-loss medication.
Despite being renowned for its chicken, Nando’s offers 56 vegetarian or plant-based options, including the popular Great Imitator Wrap. The Nando’s menu also favours healthier cooking methods, with 31 mentions of ‘grilled’ food, and two dishes made with ‘fresh’ or ‘seasonal’ produce.
And, while Nando’s doesn’t have much to offer in the way of salads and starters, it more than makes up for it with 24 sharing dishes – the most out of any UK restaurant.
3. Comptoir Libanais and Miller & Carter
Joint third were Comptoir Libanais and Miller & Carter, with 103 weight-loss-friendly options each.
Lebanese restaurant Comptoir Libanias offers 53 vegetarian or plant-based dishes, and 11 options that are grilled, roasted, or feature ‘fresh’ or ‘seasonal’ produce. It also has an impressive selection of 18 dishes under ‘nibbles’ and ‘mezze to share’, making it a great option for a healthy lunch.
Meanwhile, researchers identified 103 suitable dishes for weight-loss medication users at Miller & Carter. While many associate Miller & Carter with large, heavy portions of steak, the restaurant has a choice of 16 nibbles or starters, 11 sharing meals (including grilled lobster tail), and even three mini puddings.

Coming in fourth, Wahaca was noted for its availability of vegetable-rich, plant-based options. Researchers reported 10 menu items that are ‘fresh’ or ‘seasonal’, as well as plenty of sharing options.

Final thoughts…
Dining out isn’t just about eating – it’s about socialising, celebrating, and enjoying yourself. And, following these findings, researchers are keen to show that being on weight-loss medication doesn’t mean eating out is off the table.
Plus, as well as favouring restaurants that offer smaller portions and whole-food options, researchers at Oxford Online Pharmacy also recommend…
- Researching the menu before you go
- Only ordering what you think you can eat
- Looking for smaller portion options
- Sharing any concerns with people you’re dining with
- Expressing to the waiting staff that you’re looking for a light dinner, so they can help to guide/adjust your order
In the study, restaurants like The Ivy, Honest Burger, and Hard Rock Cafe scored lower, offering fewer menu items suited to reduced appetite and whole, healthy food dishes.
