Job summary
The Attaché Branch Business Support position is situated within the Defence Intelligence Academy at Chicksands in Bedfordshire. Attaché Branch sits within the Military Intelligence College and provides pre-deployment training to all UK Defence Attachés / Advisors and their Support Staff to facilitate information collection on behalf of Defence Intelligence, MOD and Partners Across Government. The courses also teach security awareness. The training audience are mainly senior officers (OF-6 to OF-4) and NCOs (OR-8 to OR-6) and the Branch is small (2xSEO; 1xOF-4 Part time; 1xEO). This is principally a training/Administration support position. It demands good communication and planning skills to be credible with the trainee cohort of senior-ranking military personnel. The training activity takes place three time a year with each training package being of 6 weeks duration.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
The EO Business Support Officer position conducts all Attaché Branch administration in support of training. The role involves a significant amount of engagement with Partners across Defence at a Senior level and therefore good communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Co-ordination and administration of A Branch courses.
- Engaging with internal and external training providers & supporters to facilitate training delivery.
- Administration and co-ordination of Staff, trainees, Visiting Lecturers and Role Players.
- Assisting with the arrangements for and hosting of visitors to A Branch.
- Contributing to course development.
- Management of all A Branch assets and equipment, including training support and delivery equipment.
- Maintenance of A Branch databases.
- Liaison with the QM dept and acting as initial PoC for all contracted services to A Branch.
- Undertake Personal Development & Complete Mandatory Training.
- Any other duties within the competence and within the confines of the grade as directed by CO MIC.
Person specification
Over and above the core behaviours, the successful candidate must possess good communication, organisational and self-management skills. Flexibility, initiative and an ability to pre-empt and be proactive are all essential skills for the position.
The successful applicant must hold a full UK Driving Licence. An understanding of DSAT and associated administrative processes along with experience of working within Global Defence Network/FCDO are desirable.
