Chief Enterprise Architect

Civil Service

Job Description

Job summary

Across government, digital and technology transformation is no longer simply an enabling function; it is central to how public bodies deliver better services, protect resilience, support policy outcomes and respond to the growing expectations of citizens, businesses and colleagues. Ofgem has a vital role in the UKs energy system, protecting consumers and helping to enable a more secure, fair and sustainable energy future. As the organisation continues to evolve, our newly designed Digital, Data and Security Services (DDSS) team will be critical to how Ofgem modernises its services, strengthens its platforms and supports wider government priorities.

Ofgem is on an exciting transformational journey. Within DDSS, we are strengthening the foundations of our entire DDSS function and technology estate, building greater internal capability and creating the platforms, services and governance needed to support a modern regulator. In short, this is an opportunity to join Ofgem at a pivotal moment and help shape the next stage of its digital, data, security, and technology maturity.

Team context

The Chief Enterprise Architect is a strategic leadership role at the heart of Ofgem's digital transformation, aligned to the Principal Enterprise Architect role within the Government Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework.

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will lead Ofgem's architecture capability across Enterprise, Solution, Security, Salesforce, and Data & AI domains, providing strategic direction for the organisation's technology, data and security landscape. Working closely with the Chief Technology Officer, Chief Data and AI Officer, Chief Information Security Officer and senior stakeholders across Ofgem and wider government, you will ensure that architecture enables innovation while delivering secure, resilient and future-ready digital services.

As Chief Enterprise Architect, you will define and evolve Ofgem's enterprise architecture vision, ensuring technology, Salesforce, data, AI and security solutions and strategies align with organisational priorities and wider government standards.

You will lead the architecture function across Enterprise, Solution, Security, Salesforce and Data & AI disciplines, embedding secure-by-design principles, robust governance and architectural excellence whilst recognising the need for pragmatic decisions that maximise business value.

This is an exceptional opportunity to influence enterprise-wide strategy, shape long-term technology investment and play a pivotal role in delivering Ofgem's ambitions as a modern, data-driven regulator.
