You will be a key member of the team working with our indemnity/insurance related clients. The purpose of the role is to facilitate our engagement and delivery of actuarial advice, to help our clients make more effective and informed decisions. The main client will be NHS Resolution, who provide indemnity to the NHS for the risks involved in delivering healthcare services in England. You will be working alongside the actuaries to deliver estimates of NHS Resolutions provision, supporting cashflow estimates and the resulting impact on pricing for NHS Trusts and other healthcare providers. This is alongside ongoing support for their wider business needs and wider policy support as required.

Job description

The role will be based in the Insurance Provisoning team, which is a client facing team undertake a wider variety of work with public sector risk-pooling arrangements (such as the schemes operated by NHS Resolution and the Risk Protection Arrangement for schools) and government indemnities (such as for indemnities provided by HM Land Registry). Your core role will be working on NHS Resolution but this could evolve over time to cover work with other clients both within the team, wider GAD or more internal facing projects.

As Project Manager for the Insurance Provisioning team, you will lead the day-to-day running of GAD's programme of work with NHS Resolution. This is a client-facing role requiring you to operate confidently across organisational boundaries, building trusted relationships with NHS Resolution colleagues, while working closely with GAD's analytical and client lead teams internally.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects within the programme: defining objectives, maintaining governance, managing risk, tracking spend, and ensuring work is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality. You will be the key link between client expectations and internal delivery.

Person specification

  1. Lead the day-to-day management of projects and the overall programme of work with NHS Resolution, ensuring delivery against agreed outcomes, timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  2. Build and maintain programme and project plans, applying appropriate delivery methodologies and setting robust project controls
  3. Track and report progress against milestones, providing clear, accurate management information to support decision-making
  4. Identify, monitor, and manage scopes, risks, and issues developing mitigation strategies and escalation routes as required
  5. Monitor programme and project-level spend, flagging variances and supporting value-for-money disciplines
  6. Support resource management across the programme, working with client leads and analytical staff to ensure capacity is aligned to delivery priorities
  7. Co-ordinate the development of business cases where required
  8. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders at NHS Resolution and across GAD
  9. Produce clear, well-structured programme documentation to underpin governance and assurance processes
  10. Support project assurance activities and post-project reviews, drawing out lessons learned
  11. Establish and maintain change management processes, including formal documentation of agreed changes to deliverables and scope
