Job description
The post is part of the operational delivery management team and will have a key role in ensuring we meet our objectives by helping Ministers to make timely decisions on planning applications. This involves leading a team assessing technical environmental information and providing advice to Ministers and senior officials on the environmental risks associated with consenting such projects.
You will provide support to a critical and sometimes contentious function, which enables nationally significant energy infrastructure projects to proceed, putting the role at the heart of meeting energy security, price stability and Net Zero carbon objectives.
Person specification
- Ensuring the comprehensive and timely delivery of Habitats Regulations Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessment screening, scoping and reviews of Environmental Statements for energy related infrastructure applications.
- Working with case managers and legal advisors to assess environmental impacts and ensure that where needed appropriate mitigation and compensation can be secured through consent conditions.
As a line manager, you will be responsible for working with your members of staff to define their objectives, as well as managing their development and performance.
Essential Criteria
- A relevant environmental sciences undergraduate degree - Have significant demonstrable previous experience of UK environmental legislation and the process of assessing environmental impacts from significant developments such as Habitats Regulations Assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments.

- Enjoy working at pace to deliver a timely, customer focussed service to statutory deadlines.
