HM Coastguard (HMCG) is the operational arm of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) with responsibility for 6 key functions - Search and Rescue, Pollution Response, Vessel Traffic Management, Maritime Safety, Maritime Security and Emergency and Disaster management. HMCG is responsible for the initiation and coordination of civil maritime search and rescue within the United Kingdom Search and Rescue Region (UKSRR). This includes the mobilisation, organisation and tasking of adequate resources to respond to persons either in distress at sea, or to persons at risk of injury or death on the cliffs or shoreline of the UK. There are three delivery disciplines within HMGC: Maritime Operations, which co-ordinates activities from an operations room environment; Aviation, who operate the Aeronautical Rescue Co-ordination Centre; and Coastal Operations, which manages resources and service provision on the coast. This post will facilitate and support the technical training and development requirements for Maritime Operations.

Job description
As a Technical Trainer you will be responsible for the design, delivery, and evaluation of effective and budgeted training solutions to meet the needs set by Coastguard Operations or outlined in the MCA or HMCG Business Plans. Accountable to the Technical Training and Development Manager for the implementation of quality appropriate training and development solutions to meet the tactical direction of HMCG Maritime Technical Training.
Your responsibilities will include, but arent limited to:
- The design, delivery, evaluation, review and updating of budgeted Coastguard technical training solutions at appropriate venues across the UK, working with colleagues and/or external providers, as necessary.
- Assessment of learning and technical competence through both in-programme evaluation and, by the setting, invigilation and marking of formative and summative assessments.
- The provision of all areas of Maritime and Aviation Coastguard Technical Training.
- The provision of the portfolio of training solutions specific to HMCG Operations.
- Requirement, where operational need is identified, to deliver peripatetic training solutions at any UK location (including evenings and weekends as necessary).
- Act on behalf of Technical Training & Development as a Subject Matter Expert to HMCG Operations and other interested parties as required.
- Ensure all source material for training is aligned with the Coastguard Technical Competency Framework.
- Participation in the review and maintenance of the Coastguard Technical Competency Framework.

Essential qualifications/licenses:
- A full UK driving license

Required experience:
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
- A proven track record of establishing a professional working relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
- Relevant experience and qualifications in Search and Rescue or Technical Rescue
- Demonstrable experience of the design and development of training material for either face to face or e-learning interventions
Additional Information
Please note that this is a uniformed role and uniform will be required to be worn at all times when on duty.

Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements
Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.
This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location/visiting stakeholders. Your designated workplace will be your contractual place of work. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
Regular travel to other offices will be required, which may involve overnight stays.
