Job Description

Do you have experience of dealing with members of the public in a caring and responsive manner? Do you have good organisational, numerical and time management skills and are eager to learn? If so, come and join our Business Rates Team.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

You will be responsible for maintaining Business Rates liabilities, exemptions, and reliefs in accordance with legislation, case law, and the working practices and procedures of the council to the required standards of accuracy, achieving agreed clearance times as laid out in the Service plan. This will include property inspections and external visits as required.

You will undertake targeted reviews of Business Rates exemptions and reliefs to ensure ongoing accurate awards and assist in the monitoring of new developments and demolitions to enable accurate forecast of revenue.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You should have a relevant Level 2 qualification or equivalent and/or have Experience of working in a finance or similar environment.

Where our roles are customer facing and you are required to speak to members of the public, you will be required to demonstrate the ability to speak fluent English. This is a requirement under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016. Please refer to the attached Person Specification for the full criteria.
