Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen, for a 0.7 WTE (26 hours), Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Outpatients Specialist Rehabilitation Service.

Main duties of the job

Specialist Rehabilitation covers the Prosthetic, Orthotic and Wheelchair Service. The role will be mainly based within the Prosthetic Department with some support offered to the other Specialist Rehabilitation services. The role is based at Seacroft hospital in the Prosthetic, Orthotic and Wheelchair department. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate clinical knowledge mainly around long term conditions and wound care management. However, previous specific Prosthetic or Wheelchair experience is not required for this role and support will be available from the wider multi-disciplinary team once in role.

The Prosthetic Service is one of the largest in the UK and has a full complement of highly skilled Consultants, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologists, Prosthetists, Healthcare assistants and Prosthetics Technicians who specialise in the treatment of adults and children amputees.

We are looking for a highly motivated nurse, who is innovative with a commitment to excellence, who has the ability to work autonomously, effectively and seeks to promote an environment of growth that incorporates education, adult and research.

A significant component of the post will involve Operational and Professional line management to the nursing healthcare assistant. Applicants must be able to demonstrate leadership skills to assist in the development and growth of the established team providing support, training and supervision, whilst being able to influence service improvement at local and regional levels.

The successful candidate will work over 4 days (Monday to Friday).

What you will bring to the role

Support staff to provide efficient, effective, safe and quality care to patients as an expert practitioner.

Deliver a positive patient experience.

Provide high quality care as an expert practitioner and act as a role model and resource for advice, support and guidance.

Participates in the setting, monitoring and improvement of standards and quality of patient care.

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care and treatments using specialist clinical knowledge and clinical skills.

Make clinical assessments and treatment decisions within clearly defined policies and protocols.

Organises own clinical workload.

Through the use of audit, local research, metrics and feedback continually seek to identify practice that needs improvement. Implement and evaluate any resultant improvement plan.
