Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse with proven training experience to join our Patient Solutions team.

This Clinical Trainer role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a field-based position, supporting patients, carers, families, healthcare professionals, and clinical teams across the South West of England. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality clinical education, support competency development, and provide practical patient support through both face-to-face and virtual settings.

This role requires regular travel across the South West of England, including occasional overnight stays. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Nurse Trainer will be responsible for delivering clinical training and education to healthcare professionals and clinical teams, while supporting safe and effective patient care in community and homecare settings.

Key duties will include:

  • Delivering clinical training and education to healthcare professionals and clinical teams
  • Supporting patients, carers, and families with homecare education and ongoing clinical support
  • Developing and maintaining evidence-based training materials, documentation, and resources
  • Monitoring clinical competencies and supporting safe clinical practice
  • Completing accurate reporting, documentation, and KPI activity tracking
  • Supporting audits, service reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance with clinical, regulatory, governance, and safeguarding standards
  • Escalating clinical concerns, incidents, and adverse events appropriately and in line with policy

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for delivering clinical training and education to healthcare professionals and clinical teams, ensuring that training is evidence-based, effective, and aligned with clinical governance requirements. They will support safe clinical practice by assessing and monitoring competencies, maintaining accurate documentation, and escalating clinical concerns appropriately.

The role will also involve supporting patients, carers, and families with homecare education and ongoing clinical support, helping to promote confidence, safety, and independence in the home setting.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years post-registration nursing experience
  • Proven experience of delivering training, education, coaching, mentoring, or competency support in a clinical setting
  • Experience of supporting patients, carers, families, healthcare professionals, or clinical teams with clinical education
  • Experience of working within clinical governance, safeguarding, and regulatory standards
  • Experience of maintaining accurate clinical records, training documentation, and activity reporting

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent relevant clinical experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Training, teaching, coaching, mentoring, or assessor experience relevant to clinical practice
