Then the respiratory services at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust is the place that will provide you with the experience and support you need to take you to the next level. We are looking for an enthusiastic & motivated individual who has a passion for the delivery of high quality patient care to join the leadership on ward J09. The team on J09 are committed to keeping patients at the centre of care, creating an environment that encourages new ideas to improve care and their patients experience. There is an established preceptorship system in place to develop you in your role as a leader, along with commitment to professional development with on-going education to facilitate care delivery of the highest standards. You will work in close partnership with the multi-disciplinary team in caring for patients with a range of respiratory conditions such as Asthma, Pneumonia, COPD and CF. This post is 34.5 hours per week, for 12 months FTC maternity cover.

Main duties of the job

You will also need to have the ability to deal with challenging situations in a professional and calm manner. The jobholder will play an essential role assisting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with the 24 hour continuing responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the ward / department. They will contribute to the provision of professional, clinical, managerial leadership and supervision for the nursing team. Being responsible for helping to develop and maintain a ward or departments philosophy that has the patient at the centre of compassionate safe and quality care delivery. Through assisting with managing the administrative and financial aspects of the ward, the jobholder will support the cost effective use of resources.

Job responsibilities

What you will bring to the role

Criteria:

Registered Nurse (RN Adult for adult clinical areas or RN Child for children's areas (Level 1 or 2)

Recognised teaching/assessing qualification (desirable)

Significant post registration experience at staff nurse level or equivalent

Working with a wide range of professionals including medical, nursing and management colleagues

Evidence of continued professional development

Current issues in health and social care

Clinical Experience within the specialty (desirable)

Excellent written and verbal skills

Ability to organise and prioritise own and others workload

Skills and knowledge required to lead and develop team members (desirable)
