As a member of the Joint Training Team within Enabling Services, you will support the achievement of these key priorities, making a real difference to the lives of people in Shropshire. The Joint Training Team delivers a comprehensive programme of health and social care training, through both live online sessions and face-to-face classroom delivery. Our experienced trainers bring both expertise and enthusiasm, inspiring others to develop their knowledge, skills, and confidence. As a valued member of the team, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of corporate priorities, making a meaningful difference to the lives of people across Shropshire. Overview of your role Your role will be to provide business support primarily for the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training in Learning Disability and Autism (Oliver's Training). This will include responsibility for all aspects of the business support of this training: from booking trainers and training venues, to managing learner bookings, attendance lists, and training evaluations. You may be asked to support other areas of training or provide cover for other business support officers within the team, depending on capacity and need. Who will your manager be and what will you be responsible for? You will be: ▪ reporting to the Business and Finance Manager who is in turn responsible for your health and safety, training and development. ▪ expected to lead and/or contribute to a range of projects and build relations with both internal and external partners in order achieve specified outcomes but will not have direct authority over those involved. ▪ Responsible for completing within expected timescales all mandatory corporate and role specific training. Training requirements will be detailed in your corporate induction and Performance Development Review (PDR). Courses are accessed via the council Learning Management System via the Intranet. What will you be doing? ▪ Co-ordinating the planning, scheduling & advertising of the Oliver's Training Programme for Shropshire Council staff, partner organisations, and external customers. ▪ Co-ordinating learner access primarily onto the Oliver's Training programme but also to a range of learning events and programmes offered by the Joint Training Team where required. This includes liaising with external facilitators & venues, the application & confirmation process and certification. Contributing to a programme of evaluation, using a range of methods to improve the service offer. Developing & producing a range of learning and development resources as required. Providing course packs for Learning and Development Officers and externally commissioned trainers, including delivery of packs and, where required, equipment to various venues. ▪ Identifying and Risk Assessing appropriate training venues and negotiating terms. ▪ Working with the Learning and Development Officer for Oliver's Training to support Oliver's Training co-trainers who will be autistic and people with a learning disability, communicating with them about training dates, timesheets and expense claims. ▪ Contributing to the development of a business and marketing strategy which will support long term sustainability. Actively promoting the service using a variety of marketing identifying new marketing opportunities. tools. Evaluating effectiveness and ▪ Contributing to the effectiveness of the workflow through planning and organising own work schedule, obtaining and organising the necessary information and resources to complete tasks within required deadlines. ▪ Using a range of IT applications e.g. Access, Microsoft Office, Web-editing and Business World, Leap into Learning to develop and maintain effective systems. Keeping operating procedures up-to-date and implementing improvements to meet changing needs. identifying & ▪ Contributing to the production of performance management information & reports to meet internal and partner requirements and deadlines to support effective management decision-making and performance e.g. Shropshire Council (SC), Shropshire Community Health Trust (SCHT), Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital (SaTH), Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital (RJAH), Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), and Telford & Wrekin Council. ▪ Developing and maintaining constructive working relationships with managers, partners, colleagues and customers to achieve required outcomes. To include taking part in meetings, sharing information, supporting problem solving and decision-making processes. ▪ Supporting effective and detailed monitoring of training budgets and project specific funding. To include committing expenditure and income from internal and external sources. Identifying and reporting issues of concern in a timely manner. To also generate income through the implementation of the agreed charging policy. Processing and generating requisitions, purchase orders and invoices within Shropshire Council timeframes. Adhering to the Shropshire Council procurement policy in purchasing resources. To include review of externally commissioned training providers and reporting on any areas of concern. ▪ Providing support for existing and new projects in line with new demands, developments and initiatives. ▪ Arranging and supporting in-house and multi-agency meetings including providing relevant information, note-taking and developing & implementing action plans. ▪ Undertaking general office administration to include requesting, storing, retrieving and supplying information in line with data protection legislation ▪ Maintaining & developing an understanding of issues relating to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice and demonstrate this in carrying out duties and responsibilities. What are your conditions of Service The conditions of service are those laid down by Shropshire Council, which have been adopted and amended as necessary from those laid down by the National Joint Council for Local Government Services. This is a hybrid role, your primary work base will be at The Lantern, Meadow Farm Drive, Shrewsbury with the requirement to regularly work from home. Your post is subject to the following: ▪ The post is for a fixed term of one year, for 18.5 hours per week, ▪ Normal office hours are 8am - 6pm Monday - Friday with a minimum lunch break of 30 minutes. Occasional work may be required outside these hours, ▪ The post is subject to the Council's annualised hours scheme as implemented within the specific work area. Annual leave entitlement is a pro rata flat rate scheme of 207 hours (28 days) annual leave plus bank holidays, with five days extra awarded to those staff with five years local government service giving an entitlement of 244 hours (33 days).
