Reinsurance Analytics Consultant

About the role
This is a newly created role in a growing team of five. The team works with brokers and reinsurers to place external reinsurance programmes and brings together portfolio, market and exposure data to build a view of risk across the business. You'll support this work through accurate data, reporting and analytical tools, while helping to strengthen the team's data capability.
Your work will include managing data inputs for accumulation exercises, risk appetite measures, early warning indicators and reporting. You'll analyse portfolio, exposure, claims and market data, advise underwriting and claims colleagues on reinsurance implications, and monitor the value delivered by reinsurance programmes. You'll also build effective relationships with internal teams, brokers, reinsurers, data providers and technology partners, and develop technical guidance and training.
You'll receive specialist reinsurance training, with opportunities to progress within the team and explore wider career options across NFU Mutual.
This role is based in our Tiddington Head Office, just outside Stratford Upon Avon. However, we understand how important a positive work life balance is, so to help you give your best, we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment and support to work up to 80% of your hours from home.
About you
To join NFU Mutual, you'll also bring
- Analytics experience, including the analysis and interpretation of complex data within insurance or financial services
- Experience writing data queries using SQL or SAS
- Experience of exposure management and risk analytics, with General Insurance or underwriting experience desirable
- Experience creating data visualisations and reports using Power BI or a similar analytics tool
- Ability to explain technical underwriting analysis, model outputs, assumptions and limitations to a non technical audience
Qualifications
Essential: A relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent practical experience in analytics, statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, data science, insurance, underwriting or a related discipline
Desirable: A professional insurance qualification, actuarial study, data analytics certification or equivalent evidence of continuing professional development
