Introduction to The Good Care Group

For older people or those with life-limiting conditions, there’s nowhere better to live than in the comfort of their own home. Surrounded by their memories and supported by a  professional carer, every single client gets to live their very best life, in the place they love most.

The Good Care Group is a leading provider of  homecare services in England and Scotland. Our recognition and awards are proof of our determination to be an outstanding care provider. We have achieved the highest ratings the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England can give – five ‘outstanding’ ratings in all categories. We’re also rated ‘excellent’ for care and support and ‘very good’ for staffing by the Care Inspectorate (CI) in Scotland. We’re immensely proud and thankful for the dedication and sustained efforts of our whole team.

Working with us you’ll be supported by a team and technology that are second to none. We’ll support you to grow your skills and knowledge. Your training begins with our five-day induction in our Oxford or London offices. It’s confidence-boosting and ensures you have everything you need to deliver outstanding care. We also offer ongoing training opportunities that will help you develop your knowledge in specialist areas, such as advanced dementia care, Parkinson’s disease, and end of life care.

The Good Care Group is part of a family of home care brands in the UK, including Oxford Aunts, Cherished Home Care, Prestige Nursing & Care and Comfort Keepers (Ireland).

Our vision is to be the leading provider of the highest quality care at home. We help older people remain safe and happy in their own homes and community, whilst also improving their lifestyle and wellbeing. We welcome new team members who share this vision.

Real-life stories

Changing careers or transferring to a new company doesn’t have to be daunting. We asked some of our valued team of carers to tell us about their experience of working as a Professional live-in Carer. We hope they inspire you too.

Sheena's story...

“I would really recommend this kind of work if you’re on your own like I am or you still feel the need to work and are looking for a really worthwhile occupation.

I love the freedom of being a live-in carer. I could have gone for several different shifts but the one I chose really suited my lifestyle. Live-in care works so well for me as I love to travel and my friends and family are very important to me, so having two weeks to do this each month is ideal.

I cannot recommend working with TGCG enough. The company is very encouraging and will pay for you to take further qualifications should you wish to further your career. I don’t know of any company as good as TGCG. I will stay with them until I finally hang up my apron. I’m still very healthy and have great energy so I don’t see myself retiring for a good long time yet!”

Barbara's story...

“After decades away from live-in care work, I decided to return to The Good Care Group. I was drawn by the flexibility and range of rota patterns available, enabling a good work-life balance. I find live-in care deeply rewarding, knowing I’ve made a difference in my clients’ life. Before I started with The Good Care Group I had worked in the care sector for over 40 years! I have worked in care homes assisting those with learning disabilities and mental health.

What I love about live-in care with The Good Care Group is the support. If things do get tough or challenging, I know I have a strong network to turn to. My colleagues and care manager understand the emotional demands of the work involved. Along with the ongoing training, I feel I can handle any situation with confidence and provide the best care possible for my client.”

Sarah's story...

“I decided to become a live-in carer after my step-mum developed dementia and I realised what a huge difference the right carer made to her life. I feel privileged to be able to help provide support to my client helping her maintain her independence and continue living in her own home, surrounded by possessions that mean so much to her.

When I go to my client’s house, I actually feel like I’m coming home. You’re matched closely with your client, which is invaluable. I enjoy knowing my client’s likes and dislikes, hearing about their life stories, and getting to know their families too.”

Marion's story...

“Having worked in a variety of care settings over the years, it’s live-in care that’s by far given me the greatest job satisfaction. More importantly, I’ve seen first-hand how having the time to build relationships with my clients is central to enhancing their sense of wellbeing and happiness later in life. Live-in care gives me the opportunity to do what inspired me to care in the first place: seeing my work make a real difference to an individual’s life as opposed to them just being another number on my to-do list.”
