I have just got to tell you about these shoes for walking. I recently did a walking course with WalkActive’s founder Joanna Hall. (Read my review HERE). At the end of the session, she gave us an insight into the correct walking shoes. There were three brands that she recommended – ON, Merrells and Vivo Barefoot. The latter is the ultimate in the ‘barefoot’ walking style. Joanna recommends that if you are unsure of going straight to Vivobarefoot, try ON or Merrells first. I have worn Vivobarefoots for some time and can highly recommend them. I love them so much that I now find it hard to wear normal shoes as they are not as comfortable.
What are Barefoot shoes?
Barefoot shoes, also known as minimalist shoes, have been gaining popularity in recent years due to their numerous benefits for walking. These shoes are designed to mimic the feeling of walking barefoot while providing some protection for the feet. One of the most popular barefoot shoe brands is Vivobarefoot. In this article, I’ll explore the benefits of barefoot shoes for walking, with a focus on the Vivobarefoot brand, as those are the ones I know.
What are the benefits of Barefoot shoes?
One of the primary benefits of barefoot shoes is that they allow for a more natural walking experience. Traditional shoes with thick soles and arch support can alter the natural mechanics of the foot and ankle, leading to weaker muscles and joints over time. Barefoot shoes, on the other hand, allow the foot to move and flex naturally, which can strengthen the muscles and improve overall foot health.
Another benefit of barefoot shoes is that they can improve balance and stability. Because the foot is in closer contact with the ground, it can better sense changes in terrain and adjust accordingly. This can improve awareness of the position and movement of the body, which can lead to better balance and stability.
Barefoot shoes can also help to prevent injuries. By allowing the foot to move more naturally, barefoot shoes can reduce the risk of common injuries such as plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and stress fractures. Additionally, barefoot shoes can help to correct gait abnormalities and improve posture, which can further reduce the risk of injuries.
Switching to barefoot footwear means letting your feet do their natural thing and reconnecting your body (and brain!) to the natural world. It is so good for you, but it’s not necessarily easy.
Why buy the Vivobarefoot brand?
When it comes to the Vivobarefoot brand, there are several additional benefits to consider. For example, Vivobarefoot shoes are made with high-quality, sustainable materials such as recycled PET plastic and wild rubber. This not only reduces environmental impact but also ensures that the shoes are durable and long-lasting.
Vivobarefoot also offers a wide range of styles for men, women and children.
So finally, Barefoot shoes, such as those offered by the Vivobarefoot brand, offer numerous benefits for walking. They allow for a more natural walking experience, improve balance and stability, prevent injuries, and are made with sustainable materials. If you’re looking to improve your foot health and overall walking experience, barefoot shoes may be worth considering.
