Instant radiance
After being stuck at home for so long, my complexion seems to have taken a backward step. My wrinkles have had kids and I’m in need of a morale boost. Which is why I splashed out £10 and treated myself to an Instant Radiance Highlighter. Feel (and look) a bit more like my old self now! Sweep onto your cheek/brow bones, centre of your nose, Cupid’s bow and chin for dewy skin. There’s a quick video on the Boots’ website that shows you how. MORE INFO
Some useful layering…
Here are some stellar pieces from Artichoke Collection that you might like to consider for your Spring wardrobe:
Inset collars are hugely popular at the moment and with good reason – much easier to layer than a shirt which can be a hassle with sleeves bunching up etc. The insert collar is like a fake shirt, but is actually a collar with a bib, back and front. Peter Pan, frilled or pointed inserts available. If your chosen style isn’t in stock, order it anyway to take advantage of the discount as more stock is on its way. MORE INFO
Also loving these two pieces: the military style poncho £49 SHOP NOW and the green long knitted gilet that I’m wearing which drapes beautifully and is available in ten glorious colours. £58 SHOP NOW
A fragrant idea
This aromatherapy diffuser bracelet caught my eye. Made from stainless steel, it is an ethically sound product. The locket contains a tiny pad onto which you can sprinkle a few drops of your favourite essential oil. Can’t help thinking this would make a brilliant gift. £17.90 from RainbowLife BUY NOW
Classic affordable style
Three items that, when worn together, are guaranteed to get admiring glances. Everything you need can be purchased from M&S in one fell swoop: a £55 trench (last pic above); a crisp white tee – 2 for £12.50 (they are a good weight and a great length – not too short or too long) and the all-round brilliant Sophia jeans £29.50 (suits everyone, has stretch, available in short, medium or long).
Did you know that luxury brand Ugg do trainers?
I didn’t until Marvellous-Mother-In-Law bought some (and wears them at every opportunity). The flat form sole makes them slightly edgy as well as super comfortable. £90. UGG Zilo leather lace up trainers. John Lewis MORE INFO
Snuggle up in style
It’s still chilly at night, so how about a new pair of PJs? And, as we’re still housebound for the next few weeks, you could probably get away with wearing these all day!
Made from organic cotton, these zebra print pyjamas offer a relaxed silhouette, piping details and – perhaps most importantly – a drawstring waist and a relaxed fit. £89 from Whistles MORE INFO
Keeping it simple
I’ve recently taken to wearing jewellery again. Nothing too elaborate as obvs not going anywhere (yet!), but rather like these simple necklaces that Annabel and I are wearing. Just goes to show that you don’t need statement jewellery to make a statement. Both from Daisy London: (left) Artisan Woven necklace in sterling silver £119 and (right) Isla Rope necklace 18ct gold plate £99
In the pink
Annabel and I both have the same favourite cardigan. We wear them time and time again – whatever the season it just gives us that added confidence. Long Trim cardigan in Lilac or Navy. £159 MORE INFO Annabel’s very pretty pink and orange Alexandra shirt £79 MORE INFO
We are not invisible!
I’d like to finish on the subject I began this article with which is we women over 50, 60, 70, 80 and beyond are not invisible! Have a look at the Strike Out Ageism range on The Bias Cut website. 20% of the proceeds from sales of this special collection will be given to the charity Wellbeing of Women .
