Role: Team Leader - Residential Children's homes

Location: Bournemouth, Ringwood & surrounding areas

Salary: Circa £35,000 per annum, inclusive of enhancements

Hours: 37 hours per week, plus 10 sleep-in shifts per month and overtime opportunities

Roster: 4 week rolling roster to include some weekends and Bank holidays

About the Role

As a Team Leader in our children's homes,you will perform a vital role in our children's lives, working as part of a team, and being a responsible, trusted 'parent figure' for looked-after children. In addition, you will be a role-model to the team, providing mentorship and leading the shift.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Building strong, positive relationships with children who have experienced traumatic and difficult backgrounds
  • Supporting their educational and emotional development, helping them to heal and thrive
  • Planning and co-ordinating engaging, fun activities, encouraging the children's leisure interests
  • Ensuring a structured, safe, comfortable home environment
  • Following regulatory processes which includes good administration and recording of information
  • Supporting the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager with regulatory processes, ensuring the home is well led and ready for Ofsted inspection

About you

To succeed as a Team Leader, we're looking for the following:

  • Qualified to NVQ Level 4 in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (or equivalent)
  • At least one year's experience within the residential children's home sector
  • Dedicated to child safeguarding and child welfare
  • Empathetic and effective communicators, able to form trusted, meaningful relationships with children
  • Passionate about making a positive difference in children's welfare
  • Resilient and patient, capable of handling challenging behaviours
  • Proactive and creative in activity planning
  • Capable of practical 'life skills' including cooking, cleaning and good home management
  • Detail-oriented and competent users of IT, to ensure that every child's needs are met and documented in line with regulatory expectations and standards

Essential must haves

A valid UK driving licence, proximity to Bournemouth, Ringwood and Ferndown.
