Job Description
The Cyber Team in the Transport Security Directorate (TSD) is recruiting for two Policy Advisors to support on cyber policy and regulation. These are exciting roles where you will have the opportunity to become a subject matter expert on cyber security and resilience in the transport sector. You will play a key role in identifying cyber risks across transport and driving forward legislative and practical solutions to real-time and emerging issues in industry. You will be exposed to senior officials and high-profile stakeholders across government and industry to deliver real impact and improve the UKs transport cyber resilience.DfTs Transport Security Directorate (TSD) leads on national security matters, ranging from counter terrorism and cyber security to science and innovation. Within TSD, the National Security Division (NSD) sits at the centre of the departments work to mitigate current and emerging cyber threats. We work across transport modes, HMG and industry to develop policy and regulations to mitigate threats. NSD is looking for two Policy Advisors to support cyber policy development and risk identification across the transport cyber landscape. You will work closely with team across DfT and government to identify and respond to ongoing and emerging cyber risks and threats across transport. This includes current cybersecurity requirements, measures and standards and the policy requirements for the implementation of future technologies into the transport sector. You will support the wider policy landscape, including Network and Information Systems (NIS) policy and the upcoming Cyber Security and Resilience Bill (CSRB) and its implementation.TSD invests significantly in training and developing staff to prepare them not just for an interesting and challenging job, but also for a rewarding career in the Government security profession. Our expectation is that our staff will remain in post for at least two years.Responsibilities Include, but not limited to:Key accountabilities of the role include: Provide policy and regulatory support that contribute to DfTs work to improve cyber resilience across the transport sector. Develop and maintain an understanding of current and emerging cyber security and resilience issues across the UK transport sector. Act as a cyber champion across the department, working closely with operational and resilience leads in DfT and across government to support industry.
