Job Description
This is an exciting and stretching role that will give the successful candidate an opportunity to contribute to the future development of the UKs world-leading radio and audio industries. The role will include overseeing the operation of new legislation that protects the carriage of radio services on smart speakers and other connected audio devices. There will be an extensive opportunity to build experience in policy development as well as significant engagement with a wide range of senior industry stakeholders. Key responsibilities will include:Radio and Audio Review To help establish and be the secretariat lead for the next Digital Radio and Audio Review which is due to start in 2025 and be completed by 2026.To manage key work streams relating to the Review including research projects relating to future trends in radio and audio listening.To helping to support the prominence of UK radio services in cars and commercial vehicles working closely with radio and motor industry stakeholders including contributing to a project to assess the issues.To work closely with the TV Team on links with the Future of TV Project which is considering the long-term future of Digital Terrestrial TV Services (Freeview) after 2034.Smart Speaker RegulationLeading work, following advice to the Secretary of State, on whether specific tech platforms should as operators of regulated radio selection services - these decisions will be made from mid/late 2025.
