Founded in 2003, we are a multi award-winning events business - passionate about providing drinks-led F&B solutions to the UK's greatest events. Today we deliver at over 40 events and festivals every year and we have developed long-standing relationships event owners such as AEG Presents, IMG, Superstruct Entertainment, Live Nation and many more. We also run our own venues and events including Riverside East in Stratford and Between The Bridges on the Southbank in London.

We have recently joined forces with Levy - The UK's leading sports & hospitality caterer that operates at over 40 venues up and down the UK and in Europe, including Tottenham Hotspur, The O2, Twickenham, Jockey Club Racecourses, the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam and many more.
We are looking for a dynamic and entrepreneurial Finance Director to join our team alongside the founder Directors for our new and exciting chapter of growth.
Overview of Role
The Finance Director will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy and performance of the company.
You will work directly with the entrepreneurial founder Directors to help grow the company - both within its core sector of greenfield and events but also support their growing venues division as well as other sectors.
You will oversee all financial aspects, ensuring sound financial management and control, driving profitability and identifying margin opportunities in this competitive food and beverage sector.
This position requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of financial principles, a pro-active people person, with experience and a passion for our industry.
Core Accountabilities
  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Develop and implement financial strategies that support the company's goals and objectives.
  • Provide clear and regular financial insights to the Directors and senior team to aid decision making and to drive business performance, striking the balance between challenge and support.
  • Provide leadership to the operational financial team (primarily on a project accounting basis) ensuring effective management and oversight at all levels, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Maximise opportunities with Peppermint's JV partners Levy/Compass on projects and growth plans.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and market dynamics affecting the food and beverage sector, providing strategic recommendations based on analysis.
  • Evaluate and approve new business project proposals & investments, especially with respect to new business development and retention opportunities.
  • Monitor cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs and support growth initiatives, including management of key banking relationships.
  • Proactively identifying profit, income and margin improvement opportunities across all areas of the business.
  • Work with the various operational teams to identify opportunities and mitigate risks as a means to achieve agreed upon annual financial targets.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process for the business, including analysis of results and recommendation of relevant remedial action necessary to maintain target.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and tax returns in compliance with UK regulations and standards.
  • Manage the annual audit.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts and board packs.
  • Ensure tight management of cost centres ensuring that spend remains under control and within agreed parameters - both at head office and event level. Implement cost saving measures to increase profitability.
  • Continually mould the finance operation to always changing conditions in events, such as ticket sales, weather, artist-driven spending patterns and other factors.
  • Develop deep, professional relationships with our clients' finance counterparts and their teams.
  • Be an inspirational leader to the company at all levels, not just in finance.
Qualifications
  • Degree level in field or higher
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification.
Knowledge/Experience/Skills - Essential
  • Proven experience as a Finance Director or similar commercial role (ideally within the F&B / retail sector), with a strong understanding of P&L management and accounting.
  • Deep understanding of commercial finance.
  • Experience of delivering proactive, relevant and insightful business decision support and partnering with the business at an executive / Director level.
  • Aggressively pursues and achieves business objectives.
  • Expertise in financial planning, analysis, reporting, and management. Strong knowledge of UK financial regulations and compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a finance team, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on strategic thinking and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of presenting complex financial information to diverse audiences.
  • Must be able to analyse/solve complex business problems with incomplete information.
  • Shows high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to quickly earn respect and make others want to follow without relying on formal authority.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills - Preferred
  • Experience leading a team of project accountants.
  • Experience working in the events or food and Beveridge (retail) sector.
  • A passion for the events and sports sector.
