Role Summary

  • Role: You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside our in-house Legal team, supporting with a variety of work and commercially-focused projects across the company's global business operations
  • Salary: A one-month stipend of £2,150

  • Start Date: This internship will either run from Monday 7th July to Friday 1st August, or from Monday 1st September to Friday 26th September 2025. You will be asked to select your preferred start date in the application form

  • Location: This is an on-site role based in our Global Headquarters in Cambridge

About the Role

Costello Medical is offering a four-week Legal Internship at our global headquarters in Cambridge for up to two candidates. The successful candidate(s) will join our in-house Legal team, gaining hands-on experience in day-to-day operations and collaborating closely with team members on various commercially-focused projects and initiatives across different aspects of the business. This role provides invaluable exposure to various areas of commercial law, offering the opportunity to lead a research-based project and present findings to the wider Legal team.

Our Legal team operates globally, supporting Costello Medical's scientific and operational teams by advising on best practices and managing risk. The team also collaborates closely with the company's clients and suppliers to ensure strong partnerships, addressing legal matters such as contracting, intellectual property, and data protection.

Requirements

About You

Our Legal Internship is best suited to current undergraduate law students who are able to undertake a full time, four-week internship commencing in either July or September 2025. However, we welcome applications from law school students and undergraduates from other disciplines who can demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in law.

The successful candidate will be proactive and eager to take on new challenges with a friendly, positive, and "can-do" attitude. You will also value the opportunity to build on your commercial awareness and legal skills in a dynamic and fast-paced office environment.

Essential requirements for the role are:

  • A predicted 2:1 grade or higher for your undergraduate law degree
  • A genuine interest in learning about in-house legal work, coupled with a desire to understand the challenges faced by the company
  • A good sense of commercial awareness
  • Excellent written and spoken English, and the confidence to communicate legal material clearly in both written and oral form
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan your own work effectively, demonstrating a proactive approach to task prioritisation and time management
  • Self-motivation, self-awareness and a willingness to develop your skills and knowledge in a fast-paced office environment
  • The ability to conduct comprehensive legal research and present your findings effectively
  • Some experience drafting legal documents is advantageous, but not essential, as training will be provided by experienced members of the legal team
