Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician/ Light Vehicle Technician

County Transport - Brimington Workshops

£14.26 - £15.25 per hour - (2024/25 pay award pending) plus market leading package (see below) - There are potential opportunities for winter standby and associated additional payments during November-March, including the use of a council vehicle during rota standby periods (this can be discussed further at in interview).

We are looking for a highly motivated Light Vehicle/Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician to join our County Transport team who supports the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of motor vehicles including motor cars, minibuses, light goods vehicles, Heavy Goods Vehicles, trailers and engineering plant.

We operate a modern fleet of vehicles, that we preventively maintain to a very high standard with an emphasis on 'Quality' over 'Quantity'. The suitable applicant will be Workshop based but may on occasion be required to attend vehicles at the roadside or at our customers depots.

You will need to be suitably experienced, hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) vocational qualification in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance and repair operations and have a valid full Driving Licence with a minimum of category B. Having a category C HGV licence and/or being a qualified MOT tester in Class 4, 5, and 7 would be advantageous for this role, but is not essential as training would be considered for the right candidate.

Candidates who arenot experienced and/or do not hold the minimum qualification Levels should not apply for this role.

A standard tool kit and all specialist tools and are supplied as part of the position, along with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and branded workwear.

The role will be based at our Brimington Workshop which is located in Chesterfield. The standard working hours are Monday to Thursday 8.00am - 4.00pm and Friday 8.00am - 3.30pm.

Due to the nature of the work undertaken, the successful candidate will be required to undertake and pass a police security NPPV2 vetting check.
